Fade up on a shot of Smith Jones’ white private jet flying somewhere over North America. The camera soars over to the window where the brand new APW World Champion Smith Jones is seated. He is dressed in dark jeans and a gray tee that reads championship material on it in white lettering. The World Title belt rest son his shoulder as he is not yet ready to put it down. The camera flies in through the window and settles directly in front of Smitty. Without looking up from his phone, he speaks.
SMITH JONES: “Zombie McMorris is one heel of a competitor. He pushed me all the way to the four corners of my own personal limits and beyond at Supremacy, but I was able to dent his cranium with a final Point of Controversy and then my Gravitas knee drop, which was overkill but so much fun! I just felt like it. After the PoC, all I really needed to do was pin him for the one… two… three. What do I always say? Say it with me! Point of Controversy. Pinfall. One, two, three!!! That’s the story of how the incredible Smith Jones became The World Champion. Teach it to your children.”
He looks up from his phone directly into the camera lens with a smug sneer.
SMITH JONES: “And now, I cannot tell you how proud I am to be able to sit here and say that I am your brand new APW World Heavyweight Wrestling Champion and to be able to look ahead to the next episode of Monday Night Mayhem where begins a contendership tournament. Eight superstars will compete in the regular bracket and an additional three superstars will battle it out for the Wildcard Slot. The ultimate winner out of these eleven superstars will move on to face ME at APW’s next Supershow... HorrorKore! We are well into day one of the Smith Jones Era and already the game here in Alpha Pro Wrestling has improved. This is wrestling! This is exactly why I am here in Alpha Pro! And with a true competition fighter as your champion, wrestling will always be the most important thing in this company. Here on DAY ONE of my championship reign, I pledge to preserve the integrity of professional wrestling and do my best to maintain APW as a place where rules matter!”
The flight attendant hands Smith an ice cold glass of milk. Jones accepts it with a smile. He ignores the camera for a time and just enjoys his milk in a moment of pure bliss. Holding the glass on his knee, he speaks on.
SMITH JONES: “I will be there LIVE in Morgantown, West Virginia, to witness the opening round of the APW World Heavyweight Contendership Tournament and I can’t wait to see who advances to Round Two. We all know that a tournament can produce exciting action and shocking upsets, so do... not... blink. I look forward to defending my title when the time comes, but my next big challenge isn’t that title match. On October fourteenth, I will tangle with your current Hardcore Champ Dean Wolf in a Champion versus Champion Match on the following episode of Monday Night Metal. Non-title, of course. Just a tussle to decipher who is the best champion here in APW. It’s a match I simply cannot lose. Aren’t they all, though? It will be my first opportunity to prove myself a worthy champion in the eyes of those who still think I’m only champ because the old champ died. This match is for my doubters. Again. Watch me. I’ve forever got something to prove.”
Smitty salutes and then pats the faceplate of his title belt.
SMITH JONES: “Best of luck to each and every competitor in the tournament. I am waiting. I am watching.”
