Sitting there, in a corner, in the same old, dark room is the man we know as “Night”. The room is lightened only by Two small candles, placed on the wooden table, and the feeble moonlight coming in from the small window on the opposite corner of the room.
Night is sitting, arms crossed on his chest, staring at the camera. His face halfway covered by a black mask and his body by a long, black trench coat. He stares at the camera for a few more instants and then starts speaking in an apathetic way:
I said it before, I say it again. Strip a man off off his dreams and emotions and all that is left of him is not much more wort than toilette paper. We all know this, we all do, but do we know about a man´s sense of security? Of the sense of superiority? What Is left off of a man if we take his sense of security away from him? What Is left of a human being if we show him or her how much of an impotent being he really is, compared to the might that surrounds him?
What do I mean?
Night switches his smart phone on and we can see pictures of natural disasters. Movies of hurricanes and earthquakes. Then all we see is ruins of buildings. People staring into nothingness, children crying and a sense of mass despair streaming in the small, dark, locker room, Night is sitting in.
He stares at the camera and resumes his speech, in the same tone as before.
People always think they are almighty, that everything wrong and disastrous always happens to others and not to them. That they will never get sick, old or dying. But what happens when the disaster comes knocking at your door? When you lose your home, your friends or your dreams?
Then all you will have left, is the fact that what you actually are, is a fragile being delivered, weak, in the hands of fate…
When disaster comes knocking at your door, then you will be able to see yourself in the mirror of fate and understand if you truly are a warrior or a fickle human being, prey of illusions of grandeur. When you risk to lose all you have, you will be able to see what you truly are. These moments of despair are a clear mirror of truth for many people..
..Moments in which people should understand that the power of two is better than the power of one. That the power of love and positivism should surpass the power of egoism and individuality. And most of the time it truly is so..
..I see people lending a hand, without asking anything in exchange for that. Pure altruism. I see people giving to the needy, even if they barely have something for themselves. I see people opening the doors of their homes to people they do not know, simply because they think this is the right thing to do..
Whenever I am about to lose faith in humanity, something happens. Something that makes me rethink and re evaluate human nature. True, we are megalomaniacs but we also are empathetic. We are egoistical but we can also be very much altruistic if the situation requires it. We have done horrendous things but we, humanity, are capable of so much goodness, it is almost impossible to imagine.
All in all, what I think about humanity and our nature is that we are good. Deep down there there is something good in most of us. That is all I think about human nature. True, we need to lose that sense of superior feeling, the sense of being better than anything that surrounds us. The sense that all bad happens to others and nothing bad happens to us. We need to be realistic and not so much opportunistic.
We need to lose the sense of being unbeatable, of being so much better than our counterpart. We need to do all this without losing the sense of being a Warrior, of being able to stand up when the situations require it. We need to lose the sense of grandeur without losing the sense of reality about who we are and what we want to do..
What is important to a human being, is that he or she needs to do all this, without losing his or her sense of identity. Every human being needs to find the right path, without losing the true image of himself. We all need to go on a trip to find the right sense about ourselves, without harming what surrounds us, without harming others.
We are all fighters, who need to find the right way of becoming the most perfect fighter we can be, without losing ourselves in the way.
That brings me to my next match in APW.
My match against my next opponent, Ethan Van Oddwin.
A perfect fighter, a warrior trained in many deadly arts. Something many of us want to become. That is what is seen in the eyes of Oddwin, seen at first sight. A machine. Whenever you knock him down, he comes up stronger than before. A powerful opponent indeed..
..At first sight, that is.
But if you manage to look deeper within him, all you can see is a man, lost. A human being, always on the run. Spending some time here, learning a bit, then some time there trying to learn something else. Then moving on into “Bigger and Better” things, into “Greener pastures” if you want to call it so. A man that is good at many things but excels in none, because he does not invest as much energy in one thing, to really identify himself with it.
If you ask me, E.V.O, you are a man who is still looking to find his true self, his identity. You are a man , lost, into illusions of grandeur and senses of superiority. So, all that I said before about human beings and their route towards positivism, that all applies to you in all its might.
Yes, I spoke and spoke, apparently without making any sense, because I wanted to end up here. In my next match, against a rookie in this federation. We are both new in these grounds, but I have something which makes me better than you, E.V.O.
I have the right sense of who I am. What I can and what I can do not. I know something bout myself and that is I do not choke, when it comes to fight the fights in the squared circle. Surely, I have had my shortcomings in my life, but I have learned from them. I know my limits and what I can and can not do.
You, apparently, seem to fight and run somewhere else, thinking you do it because it makes things more interesting, yet, if you ask me that is a way of one lying to himself. Of a fighter never reaching the top anywhere, because it is better to hit and run than fight till the end and facing your own limits.
This is the way you exist. The way you are and the way you will always be, unless you end up facing your own shortcomings and overcoming them. I do not think that you, E.V.O, are the fighter that will end up beating me, because I,frankly said, I do not think you have what it takes to face yourself and win that fight.
Unless you find a way to become the sort of person that does not always end up running, without ever facing the adversities, unless you become that person, you will never become a war winner. You will simply end up being a battle winner…
...You think I am wrong?
Then, prove me wrong..
Night stands up and starts pacing around the room, gazing out of the small widow, looking at the moon and its feeble light, as the scene fades to black.
