Masuda Jubei Segment
Fans are still filing into their seats at the Dayton Nutter Center, all of them caught off guard by the graphic on display. They appear silent yet conflicted as they stare upon a large image of Masuda Jubei, “the Master” and reigning APW World Heavyweight Champion, in a heroic light. The characteristic view of him, while jarring enough, pales to the lower inscription declaring him as deceased at age 47. One man stands in the ring with current wrestler—the first addition to the Masuda Corporation—Allen Anderson. Both wear a solemn black suit combo with the weight of the world on their shoulders.
Hachiro: Greetings, I know my face is new to all of you. And I realize most of you are still getting situated, but we have grave news to share. My business partner of almost twenty years has passed. You might know him as the enigmatic and downright evil wrestler, Masuda Jubei. What many will have never seen were all the things he mastered out of this very ring. I don’t have much to say on him, frankly, since Masuda was an insular person preferring only those he could trust. I’m honored to have earned that before his premature passing last weekend in Tokyo. Although we should remember him not as the monster of APW, but for all the things he championed in his wake. I know most of you didn’t like him. At times, I hated his guts. His powerful display was unmatched by anyone I know and probably never will have an equal in that respect. Now… I’m not a fan of this business. But I’ve been told there is only one proper sendoff for such an unparalleled career: a ceremonial ringing of the bell. A final count out for a life too great to be bound to this plane, as it now traverses to the next level of existence. Please join me in honoring his name and legacy with your attention and silence.
Allen Anderson crosses his hands in front with Masuda’s former partner as the bell tolls a ten count.
Hachiro: Thank you for your patience. I pray this show goes well, and please, enjoy what these world class athletes have in store for your viewing pleasure. Bless you all.
He and Anderson walk to the back leaving the Dayton arena fans replete with silent, stunned faces.
