APW Presents: ASCENSION

The distilled pace of the tense atmosphere within the interior of the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois has boiled down to the very next moment. With all the action from earlier of the Ascension card, only one match has the prestige to hold the mold firmly for the foundation. The main event consisting of the Alpha Pro Wrestling World Heavyweight Championship featured for the main prize. The audience’s anticipation described by their thunderous musical chants and ear-imploding applause says more than enough. As with production’s orders, the cameras broadcast the commentators, Jonah St. Remington and Mike Clearwater.

Clearwater: “Tonight marks another APW World Heavyweight Championship main event with the inaugural champion, Masuda Jubei defending his championship against Smith Jones in the main event of APW Ascension! Fans from all around the world have paid their hard-earned money to witness the possibility that Smith Jones could be walking out the new APW World Heavyweight Champion!”

St. Remington: “Boring! Boring! Boring! The only thing worth even watching was either the women in the crowd taking their shirts off for me or watching once again, Jubei retaining the belt. I mean, come on! Do you really think Smith Jones of all people can dethrone the master of the Masuda Corporation? Give me a break Mike!”

Clearwater: “I believe he can. Masuda’s Corporation's lackeys won’t be here. This is between themselves. Mano ‘e’ mano. Masuda has had a great showing and he’s been the talk of the industry so far but this is a real test to see how far he can go on his own. I have nothing but respect for him especially what he accomplished at his age.”

St. Remington: “My God, you really are a Mary Poppins kiss ass. You know what? I’ve had enough of hearing you talk. Let’s just get on with the match!”

Clearwater: “A pleasure to work with you as always.”

Seconds pass when the broadcast of fans appear around the interior of the Allstate Arena. Chicago has a reputation for being one of the most active crowds in professional wrestling and it showed when “Waiting For The End” by Linkin Park overpowers the silence. A supreme positive reaction to the music’s introductory phase sparked a shining lightning production to the set followed by the appearance of Smith Jones who welcomed the high praise of Chicago.

St. Remington: “There he is. The number one contender and the challenger to Jubei’s throne. Chicago always loved the underdogs because they can’t handle being a champion themselves. When was the last time Chicago even won a game in the NFL? Oh, that’s right! Never!”

Smith struts down to the ring in a confident manner. Embracing the fans, the challenger doesn’t hesitate to climb the steel steps and throw himself between the ropes. He’s extremely potent on becoming the new World Heavyweight Champion in Alpha Pro Wrestling at the expense of defeating the very top athlete in the business. Center stage is where he wanted to be to power his right fist in the air garnering the audience to chant “Smitty! Smitty! Smitty!” in a continuous rapid fashion. His music came to pass with him staying in his designated corner waiting for Jubei; Eyes focused on the staging area with the chanting of his name drowning over the atmosphere.

Clearwater: “Say what you want about Smith Jones but he’s the fan-favorite. The support of everyone around the world will give him a major confidence boost against the most dangerous wrestler to be with us very, very, very soon. This could be his night. Smith Jones could walk out of Chicago, Illinois the new APW World Heavyweight Champion.”

St. Remington: “Yeah, in his dreams.”

The interior of the arena darkened to an almost pitch black atmosphere bounded by the chorus of boos the audience brokered out. Purplish lights flared at the sound of the gong by a bell followed by the introductory phase of the song, “Der Konig der Dunkleheit" by D, fog covers the stage. The words, “Osama Banzai” appear on the large screen responded by the series of mounting negative reactions as Jubei stood center stage with the APW World Heavyweight Championship around his waist.

St. Remington: “And there he is. The man, the myth, the leader of the Masuda Corporation and our World Heavyweight Champion! Oh, he gives me goosebumps every time he walks down to the ring. It’s like a stroke of magic Mike!”

Clearwater: “And you say I’m the one with issues.”

Masuda’s slow-paced walk to the ring had one purpose in mind; The staredown between the two. Jubei hasn’t broken eye contact nor even been phased at Smith’s intention to get the match started if it wasn’t for the referee holding him back. He climbed the steel steps with the spotlight still on him before shifting his weight through the ropes very slowly for the camera to broadcast the golden design of the championship around his waist. Jubei stood in the center of the ring letting the championship belt hanging from his raised wrist focused ahead while Smith warms up in the corner.

Clearwater: “Masuda Jubei is the APW World Heavyweight Champion for a reason. He doesn’t smell fear and won’t back down from a fight. He’s a methodical bruiser who accompanies pain and suffering to be his weapons. Tonight, he’ll demonstrate why those who have faced him have left in the shadow of a shell they arrived in.”

Once his music faded, the interior brightened to the normal setting. Jubei and Smith are in opposing corners warming up for the next few seconds. Jessica Kaine stood between both men waiting for the bell to ring to start with the introductions.

Ding! Ding! Ding!

Kaine: “Ladies and gentlemen, this is our main event of the evening and it is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, the challenger! Hailing from Toronto, Ontario, Canada! At six feet, two inches tall, weighing in at two-hundred and twenty-nine pounds! He is Smith Jones!

Smith stepped out of his corner powering his right fist in the air; He turns to the crowd before spreading his fingers wide enough to let it all go. Ordered back into the corner, the challenger keeps his eyes on the prize as the fans at ringside are chanting his name.

Kaine: “Introducing his opponent! Hailing from Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan! At five feet, nine inches tall, weighing in at two-hundred and twenty pounds! He is the reigning, defending, undisputed APW World Heavyweight Champion! “The Master” Masuda Jubei!

Jubei took two steps forward and raised the belt high to let it dangle from his right wrist. The Chicago audience reacted with massive boos to dismay him from his focus but Masuda’s full attention was on his opponent. He gently handed the belt to the referee who presented it to Smith before raising it, both straps held in each hand, high above his head.

Clearwater: “We’ve waited long enough for this main event and the wait is now over! Smith Jones! Masuda Jubei! APW World Heavyweight Championship on the line! Let it all begin!”

Both men in their corners are fully tuned into the match. The audience of Chicago have paid to see this for a damn good reason. Smith and Jubei simultaneously leave their assigned corners to circle the ring. The two slowly meet in the center; Arms outstretched to each other before they lock up in front of the entire world. Jubei and Smith trying to overpower one another as the stalemate occurred. Strength equal in their desire to best their opponent in the test of strength. The result is to break off and go back to the drawing board as the audience applauds them for the introductory feeling out process.

Clearwater: “God. These two are really trying to overpower one another. The lockup was so tense and stiff that it was all about the test of strength. Who is the stronger competitor?”

St. Remington: “Jubei! Of course!”

Once again, they continued circling the ring. The eye contact between them both was unbreakable. Jubei entered first to trigger again the lockup with Smith and once it was connected, the champion shoved his opponent against the turnbuckles. Smith kept his arms raised to attract the referee’s attention.



And as ordered, the champion retreated a couple of steps. Suddenly, a major chop sliced Smith’s chest as the clap of the sound echoed across the Allstate Arena. The audience felt the stinging blow themselves and Smith wasn’t too happy about the embarrassing open strike. Masuda on the other hand, he begged him to meet him in the center to continue the match. A cheerful smirk of confidence after getting the upper hand in the opening moments of the main event.

St. Remington: “Jubei has the scariest chops in Alpha Pro Wrestling. Despite his size, his hands could probably cut through adamantium!”

Jones took a moment to catch his breath before taking him up on his offer. They met in the center for the third time and locked up; Jubei easily snuffed the right arm within his grasp for the traditional Arm Wrench. Smith trying his best to counter the offense but Masuda transitioned into the Wrist Lock keeping him at bay. He torqued the wrist to be in steady control until his opponent spun under his right armpit to push him forward into the ropes. Upon the rebound, Jubei attempted the Shoulder Barge but Smith stood his ground.

St. Remington: “Smith probably took some steroids before this match.”

Clearwater: “Why?”

St. Remington: “Because there’s no way in hell he could have remained on his feet from a blow like that!”

Smith in his determination demanded Jubei to try it again. Jubei accepted his demand and shifted his body to the ropes- no! He struck out for another chop but Jones ducked under the thrown arm to immediately be behind him. In a matter of seconds, his body was picked up from off the canvas before driven to the mat for a beautiful textbook Back Suplex onto his shoulder blades. The impact forced Jubei to sit up in a struggle to combat the pain before the first pin attempt was made on him!


Masuda kicked out prompting Smith to continue the offense. He slowly picked him off the mat and struck his chest with an European Uppercut. Another European Uppercut backed him into the corner before he took him by the wrist to launch him into the opposing one. Jubei’s back slammed against the turnbuckles and in his sights, he saw a charging Smith Jones which led to a Running Back Elbow clobbering him in the chin!

Clearwater: “Smith Jones has taken advantage of the match in his favor! Back to back European Uppercuts followed by a Running Back Elbow! You might as well give the title of ‘Strong Style’ to Smith Jones the way he is taking it to our World Heavyweight Champion!”

A powerful kick into his ribcage forced the champion in a bent position. Smith attempted the Suplex but Masuda kept his weight on the mat. He spun out of the hold before striking his chest with another brutal Knife Edge Chop once again sliced deep into Smith’s chest. Another chop almost tearing through the skin where Smith can barely stand and finally, one last chop was enough to pummel him down to the canvas.

St. Remington: “My God! Or in this case, my self! Those chops are just probably the only weapon he needs. Masuda Jubei is a monster who lives to take punishment and dish it out even worse to Smith Jones!”

There are no pin attempts by the champion but there are brutal stomps driven into Jones’ chest. The champion going to work by brutalizing his body with vicious stomps in a continuous fashion almost leaving his opponent in a bloody mud pile. Before Jones could react, he’s dragged to his feet and thrown through the ropes. His chest exposed in between the ropes and Jubei wasted no time blasting it open with rebellious Soccer Kicks into the sternum.

St. Remington: “That’s right Jubei! Break his lungs and crush them under your might!”

Jones hangs on the middle rope almost exhausted from having his lungs caved in. Jubei on the other hand, he’s relishing the moment. He slowly lifted his chest up before another chop slices deeper than before to the disgust of the audience. He then ran to the ropes ahead of him, came back off the rebound and landed a Rolling Elbow to successfully knock him off the apron all the way down to ringside.


Clearwater: “Masuda Jubei has officially regained control of the match in his favor. From stomps to kicks to chops and an elbow strike, he’s the striking strong style genius in Alpha Pro Wrestling. There’s a reason why he’s the Alpha Pro Wrestling World Heavyweight Champion!”

Jubei shoved the referee aside to exit the ring. Despite leaving, the official continued the count but Jubei held onto the back of Smith’s head to slap his face off the apron edge. The champion doing all he can to show why he wants to walk out of the Allstate Arena with the belt around his waist.


St. Remington: “Oh! I love it! I love it! I love the slow-paced beatdown Jubei utilizes. He always controls the match to his pace and it’s a very agonizing one for his opponents!


Masuda grasped his hands around Smith’s head. His eyes targeting the steel steps to be the next phase in the punishment series of Smith’s body. He ran forward having his opponent in his clutches but Smith spun around at the last second to bulldoze Jubei’s back against the steel steps. The impact almost shattered his spine due to the obvious pain on Masuda’s face.


Clearwater: “Oh my God! Now it’s Smith’s turn to show what punishment he could bring onto Jubei’s reign!”


Once rolling him inside the ring, the contender followed suit. Jubei took his moment to stand up until eating vicious Knee Strikes into his ribs for righteous payback. Smith wasted no time in capitalizing his vulnerability to where the audience is getting rowdy at the striking demonstration. With Jubei open for more, he ran to the ropes and rebounded for the Running Back Elbow again until Masuda leaped off the canvas for the Flying Armbar Takedown!

Clearwater: “The armbar is locked in! The armbar is locked in! In the center of the ring is Masuda Jubei applying the armbar countering the Running Elbow! Is Smith going to tap out?!”

The armbar applied at maximum pressure promoted the audience to be worried about Jones’ condition. He’s caught in the center and Jubei leans on his right hip to almost ripping the arm out of his socket. The referee demanding for an answer but Smith refuses to let it all go upon the night he could be world champion. He quickly drags both their body weight to the ropes where he stretched his right foot to apply the rope break!


Jubei kept the hold for a few more seconds until yanked off by the referee. The audience continuously booing him for being such a careless athlete but Jubei doesn’t pay them any mind. He’s here to win and that’s that. He switches the strategy to drag him across the ring to the corner before throwing him spine first against the turnbuckles. Jubei clobbered him against with a couple of more chops leaving him limp in the corner.

St. Remington: “Smith Jones was lucky enough to escape the Armbar. I almost saw his arm get ripped from his shoulder and now Jubei is taking this battle to the top!”

Jubei gently placed him sat on the top rope and for good measure, another chop struck the red hot chest of Smith. Everyone rose onto their feet when they watched both men on the middle rope; Masuda struck him a few times in the head with strong elbows to the skull. Positioned well for the Suplex until he was thrown off down to the canvas where his back landed in the center.

Clearwater: “Smith Jones escaped the Superplex which could have ended his career right there!”

Quick reacting to the landing, he rolled backwards onto his feet but then was blasted into the mat from a Missile Dropkick! The momentum of being thrown back prompts him up to his feet where Jubei charged towards Smith who ducked behind him for the Snap Tiger Suplex almost destroying the back of his head. Both men are down on the mat immobilized from the pressure of fatigue coursing through their bodies at the very instant! The audience of Chicago truly loving the action in the ring!

Clearwater: “Oh my God! This is what professional wrestling is all about! Both men are sacrificing their bodies for the biggest prize in the entire sport! The APW World Heavyweight Championship means everything to these men!”

Nothing will stop these men from giving it their all. Chicago’s audience within the Allstate Arena are projecting so much appreciation to both competitors. Jubei and Jones are fighting through the pain to stand up at the same time which was surprising on his part. Jubei clobbers him with a chop that forces Jones to bend the knee but the look on Smith’s face tells the story that he will not go down. Instead, he stands up and screams in his face to chop him again!

St. Remington: “Jones has lost his goddamn mind! Getting cut by Jubei is like getting stabbed with a knife. You don’t allow it to happen if you want to live!”

A flurry of Knife Edge Chops leaves welts, bruises and even a cut on the chest of Jones who withstood the punishment like the man he is. Jubei, having enough, charged to the ropes behind him, came back but Smith caught him out of nowhere with a Yakuza Kick almost turning him inside out. Chicago explodes out of their seats witnessing the comeback of Smith who is on the ropes recovering as much as he can!

Clearwater: “Yakuza Kick! The Yakuza Kick has put down Jubei and he’s bringing it back in his court!”

Smith marches around the ring feeling the shift of momentum. Jubei slowly rises to get knocked down by a Clothesline. Once again, he slowly got up for another Clothesline! Jubei was getting knocked around due to Smith’s mission to becoming World Champion. Upon rising up, Jubei attempted a Clothesline of his own but Jones ducked under it and used the arm to shift his weight for a DDT spiking the world champion on his head!

Clearwater: “DDT! DDT! DDT! Jubei landed on top of his head and here is the pin attempt!”


A kick out before the hand slapped the mat a third time. Jones wasn’t happy but he had to keep a focused face. He decided it was time to get serious and slowly dragged the champion to his feet attempting to prepare the Slingshot Brainbuster but Jubei manages to tackle him out of the ring. Smith’s body dropped to the ringside mat and as he stood up, Masuda is already flying through the ropes to crash his body onto his from the Suicide Dive!

St. Remington: “Suicide Dive by the powerhouse striker! Yeah! This man can do it all and he doesn't give a single care about anything. All that matters is retaining the belt and that’s what he’s here to do- oh shit!”

Clearwater: “Oh shit is right! He’s removing the things from our commentary table and we’re keeping our distance barely!”

While the referee is counting, Jubei is beyond pissed off. He violently grasped his hands around the head of Jones and threw him onto the commentary table. Luckily, it was strong enough to support their weight. Slowly picking Smith up, he tried for a Suplex until Jones fought out of it from a couple of forearms into the ribs. The cutoff was the Spinning Knife Edge Chop into his face to keep him groggy but Chicago was beyond shocked to witness Jubei nearly ending Smith’s career with a Brainbuster through the table!

St. Remington: “Jesus Fuck! Oh my fucking me!”

Clearwater: “MASUDA JUBEI JUST DESTROYED SMITH JONES WITH A BRAINBUSTER THROUGH THE TABLE!”

The official instantly left the ring to check on both men in the wreckage. Neither of them have responded to the chaos but Jubei was the first to slowly get up on weakened legs. The best he could do was to drag him to the ring before using the remainder of his strength to carry the dead weight of Smith along with him.

Clearwater: “Our commentary table has been ruined at the hands of Masuda Jubei who has absolutely no remorse for what he has done. The world champion has told the story that he will do whatever it takes to retain the championship!”

Jubei barely stands on his legs. He reaches down with his hand to grasp his throat before lifting him onto his feet. Masuda throws the arm over and with all of his might, he lifted him off the canvas for a Chokeslam straight onto his right knee! The One-Handed Choke into the Backbreaker really bent his spine into two pieces. The signature, “Wani”, move making the audience almost crumple into tears while Jubei applies the pin!

St. Remington: “The Wani! It’s over! This is everything he needed to do to secure the championship retainment!”

No! Everyone bolts out of excitement to learn of Smith’s determination to survive after kicking out. Jubei sits up in pure shock he survived; The Brainbuster into the table and the Wani?! It’s unbelievable as he grasped his head in complete disbelief. He slaps the mat in anger and stands on his feet reaching down to grasp him by the back of his head. Masuda slaps his face a few times and screams he isn’t worthy for the belt!

Clearwater: “Never have we seen Jubei be so emotionally inflicted with the World Championship! He’s almost on the point of a nervous breakdown!”

Out of nowhere, Smith explodes off of his feet with an Exploder Suplex launching Jubei over onto the canvas. The challenger couldn’t hesitate and quickly caught him from behind with a German Suplex taking him across the ring; Jubei rolls backwards onto his feet on hindered legs turning around into a strong boot keeping him hunched over until he’s spiked on the head again from a Piledriver!

St. Remington: “Ref! Disqualify him! He’s abusing some sort of P.E.D to get this sudden energy boost!”

Clearwater: “Shut up Remi! This is Smith Jones fighting through all the hardships he’s faced in his life for the chance to be the next World Heavyweight Champion!”

Smith doesn’t go for the pin attempt. He’s gently waiting for his opponent to rise for he’s sensing the end to come. Jubei took moments but he finally stood up and Jones charged into his direction before Masuda shot behind him to have him in the Reverse DDT position. At being lifted, Smith landed behind him on his feet before hooking both his arms up in a Full Nelson and completing the signature Sleep Paralysis! Jubei’s head hitting the middle turnbuckle from the release of the Full Nelson Suplex!

St. Remington: “SLEEP PARALYSIS! THIS BETTER NOT BE WHAT I THINK IT IS!”

Clearwater: “WE’RE GOING TO HAVE A NEW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION IN ALPHA PRO WRESTLING!”

“One!”

“Two!”

“Three-”

No! The referee points to Jubei’s foot resting on the bottom rope. Smith sat up and frantically couldn’t believe the ring awareness of the champion. He was one hundred percent sure he had this match in the bag but apparently, the referee said otherwise. Jones looked up and sighed; He knew the only way was to go all in and risk it for the chance to be at the top of the kingdom.

Clearwater: “Whatever is going through the mind of Smith Jones must be completely traumatizing to his nature. The tension and pressure of what the entire world watching him right now is more than enough to push a man over the edge.”

St. Remington: “And speaking of the edge, this is what he’s going to do! Smith is on the top rope and The Crestfall is fully primed! Move Jubei, MOVE!”

The Allstate Arena housing thousands of fans plus all from around the world watching the broadcast of Ascension is tuned into one minute. Smith Jones standing on the top rope with his back directly facing Jubei on his. With one great leap, he is in the air performing a picture-perfect Moonsault with his knees tucked in only to hit the canvas stomach first from Jubei rolling out of the way!

Clearwater: “NO! JUBEI MOVES OUT OF THE WAY ALLOWING FOR A MAJOR CRASH N’ BURN!”

And right on cue, Smith is stood on his knees clutching his ribs before Jubei stands behind him applying for the Reverse DDT position. Using the sheer strength, he deadlifts him off the canvas in a vertical Reverse Suplex before sitting down to complete the Emerald Fusion driving him down to his neck! The completed “Masuda Driver” spiking Jones in the center before the pin attempt was made!

Clearwater: “MASUDA DRIVER! THE MASUDA DRIVER HAS BEEN DONE!”

St. Remington: “OH MY GOD! I CAN’T BELIEVE IT AND THE PIN!”


“Der Konig der Dunkleheit" by D is replayed from the arena’s interior public announcement systems. Masuda Jubei and Smith Jones are both on the canvas recovering from the potential match of the year candidate. However, it’s Jubei who is on his feet first due to the help of the referee where he receives the APW World Heavyweight Championship in his humble grasp again.

Kaine: “Ladies and gentlemen, the winner of this match and still the APW World Heavyweight Champion, Masuda Jubei!”

Masuda crashes against the ropes and uses them as a way to barely stand on his feet. He limps around the ring holding the title up high in a cocky fashion knowing he was able to retain the championship belt. In the meantime, the referee checks down on the defeated Smith Jones.

Clearwater: “Through it all, Masuda Jubei has retained the APW World Heavyweight Championship here in the main event of Ascension. A big props to Smith Jones for coming so close and giving him the fight of his life but his big risk didn’t pay off.”

St. Remington: “Many champions were crowned new and old. Wrestlers came out victorious and many walked out with their heads still held high. Ascension was great and the Masuda Corporation gets a big bump in their stock.”

Clearwater: “Thank you all for tuning into Ascension and we hope to see you again for Monday Night Metal!”
