The scene fades as an unfamiliar 1999 red Jeep Wrangler Sport pulls into an unmarked spot outside of a little white church. The sole occupant, a young woman with long blonde hair with a less than jovial attitude, steps out of the jeep and makes her way to the large double doors that lead into the innards of the unassuming house of God; doors that were already slightly ajar. To those that were unfamiliar of the inner machinations of Alpha Pro Wrestling, this young lass appeared to be nothing more than a random bystander. Yet, to those that were in the know, the young woman was the poor soul that had been hired to essentially be the manager of Alpha Pro's Shimmering Kitsune; a job that nobody else seemed to aspire to. Gripping the handle with her right hand, the woman opened the door that was ajar as quietly as she could. However, an eerie squeaking noise echoed throughout the building despite her effort.
"Oh sweet Jesus, I'm gonna die at the hands of some inbred rednecks aren't I?"
Thankfully, the home of God appeared to be as empty as the dirt lot that it sat on and she allowed herself to step into the building. The interior decor was exactly as one might expect from such a rural church. A single floor building with roughly a dozen wooden pews adorning either side of a narrow walkway; all of which sat facing alone alter with a large wooden cross.
"Yep. I'm gonna die tonight."
Suppressing the unease she felt, and the countless experience of viewing dozens of horror films that began this way or had a church scene in them, the woman cautiously walked along the narrow walkway until the slamming of the doors behind her caused her to whirl around in a panic. However, the cause wasn't the irrational fear that her mind had been building; a murderous inbred redneck. Instead, it was the one person that she had driven to this little spookfest for; Tsukiko.
"Misu konnichiha roogan. Watashiha ureshii annta ha sore wo anzen ni tsukutta."
"Um....yeah. This is kinda in the middle of nowhere though. Couldn't we go someplace less....creeptacular?"
Opting not to verbally respond, Alpha Pro's SPitfire Fox laughed lightly with a slight shaking of her head.
"Iie. Kore ha kanpekina basho de-"
"Hold up."
Abruptly interrupting Tsukiko as she was speaking, the woman held up a finger before pointing it in the direction of the camera.
"Sorry Tsu, but mister editor man said we needed to give him a signal to add in subtitles. So yeah, this is that signal."
"Really? How odd."
"Not with the way you talk it isn't."
Once more the light laughter of Tsukiko fills the air.
"Fair enough Logan-chan. Am I allowed to continue?"
"Only if you start by telling me why you had us drive out to this little patch of nowheresville."
"That is an answer easily presented Logan-chan. You see, my Ascension opponent has allowed himself to be taken in by the false promises of this western religion that everyone calls Christianity."
"Lucy? When did hse start going to church? Always figured she'd burst into flames or somethin'."
"Sadly, my opponent isn't Sixx-chan."
"Wai-what? Then who is it?"
"Osborne-kun."
"Steven Osborne? HE is the Junior Heavyweight Champion? EEEEEEW!"
Making it absolutely clear about how she felt about this new development, Miss Logan made a little show of pretending to vomit in between a pair of pews. However, Tsukiko didn't appear fazed by the childish antics of the woman. Instead, she deftly stepped past her in order to stand before the wooden cross that sat upon the altar.
"Say what you will Logan-chan, but even you must admit that Osbourne-kun has proven himself partially capable else he wouldn't be the Junior Heavyweight Champion."
"Maybe, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. The man is disgusting on every level."
"That may be, but that does not mean that I am going to be taking him any less seriously this Sunday. You see Logan-chan, he has something that I desire."
"The strap, right?"
"Yes, but he also has the recurring opportunity to compete at the highest level every week; to fight till his heart's content."
"Okay, but what about this rinky-dink of a church?"
"Logan-chan, I am aware that you've realized how devoid of others this place is. One might say that it is as empty as Osbourne-kun's Championship reign."
"Or as hollow as this newfound belief in God."
With a snap o her fingers, Tsukiko spun around to face her friend and the camera; a mischievous smile upon her face.
"Exactly! Has it not been quite questionable that someone as hentai oriented as Osbourne-kun suddenly became a devout and disciplined member of an equally questionable faux religion in less than a week?"
"I see what you're sayin' and it does scream that something cult-related is going on, but...."
"Yes?"
"I don't get it. I mean, sure we can joke about his tiny reign and all but...."
"How do the strands of fate intersect?"
"Yeah, something like that."
"Well, at the core of his very being, Osbourne-kun is a spineless weak-willed welp that has the inability to stand before the masses with the courage required to stand against the very nature of this mortal world. The Junior Heavyweight Champion should be someone that the common people and fellow warriors alike can look to should they ever find themselves in need of courage when they face the numerous challenges of life that the Gods have set before them. The Champion should be able to rise up regardless of victory or defeat; not someone who shall turn to a method of escape."
"Hold up. Escape? What was Stevie Wonderless trying to escape from?"
"Reality."
"Reality? The reality of what?"
"The reality that his life has amounted to nothing prior to discovering your Western God, but in doing so his current self amounts to nothing."
"Amounts to nothing? Didn't you already say that you weren't gonna take that sleazeball any less seriously? Ya know what? Scratch that, I'm just going to go start the car."
Without a word in opposition to her plan, Tsukiko watched the woman as she stormed out of the building; the unmistakable sound of an engine coming to life just moments later. However, with the inevitable exit of Miss Logan, Alpha Pro's fiery Spitfire Fox was left alone within the confines of the hallowed hall.
"Have you been enjoying yourself Osbourne-kun? Have you been enjoying the ability to claim that, for once in your punitive life, that you are a champion? If you haven't then I suggest that you pray to your God that you get another chance to someday. For after our momentary clash at Ascension you will no longer be able to do so. You see, August twenty-fifth is going to be the night in which I defeat you for the Junior Heavyweight Championship; when I shatter this illusion you have been subjected to.
The Illusion?
The illusion that you are somehow better than I just because you happen to hold the Junior Heavyweight Championship; the championship in which you failed to capture at Alpha Showdown. Now, it seems that you have found your western God and you somehow think this gives you the right or the ability to be a champion. Yet, Ascension only marks your FIRST defense despite acquiring the Championship three weeks ago. Something shameful for a Championship that is to be defended weekly. In fact, you did not even have the fortitude to place the Junior Heavyweight Championship on the line when you squared off against the overly fortunate Daw.
Is that a champion of God?
No Osbourne-kun; you're no champion. What you are is a sniveling fuccboi that could not own up to the facts that his life has been nothing shy of detestable. The women? The mediocre fame? The wins over Sixx-chan and Dawg-kun? This abrupt deliverance unto God? Osbourne-kun, these mean absolutely nothing in the face of the undeniable pain that I am going to inflict upon you when I make good on the opportunity that Alpha Showdown afforded to me.
An opportunity at the success borne from bitter defeat.
A defeat that will not be repeated.
This Sunday at Ascension, I prove to the world that I am the superior athlete; the superior Junior Heavyweight Champion.
Osbourne-kun you can lie to yourself, you can try to cheat the system, you can even attempt to bring in the false powers of your faux God, but this Sunday you WILL suffer defeat and I WILL become the Junior Heavyweight Champion; whilst you will only have three words."
With an overly elegant flourish of her right hand, Tsukiko pointed to her face.
"Moneymaker."
Suddenly, the feisty starlet hopped upwards and performed a lightning-quick bicycle knee strike before landing upon the other foot; the sheer force of will and confidence radiating forth from her demeanor.
"Moon Breaker."
The scene fades out.
