Gah. Why did I have to be here for this? Bunch of legal bullshit my lawyer could have handled without me…
Torture:
Bottom line, Wilds broke his contract when he didn't show up to Evolution 2, and caused us problems with the backlash. At this point, his belligerent disrespect of Action Wrestling and its management calls for his immediate release from said contract and all ties cut.
Ian Kellan, Wilds' attorney, stands to speak. However, he is cut off before edging a word out by his client.
Jaice Wilds:
You really ARE a tool, you know that? My lawyers already disproved Dig's claims that management blatantly denied me a title opportunity to my face. If anything, I learned via Corey's attack on me, and I accepted the decision with more dignity than you two had. Secondly, you told me that you didn't want myself and Mr Black lost in the shuffle. Well, how did that work, Tortoise? Oh, right. You cockblocked me from making any REAL offense by booking a normal match, and stuck it right in the middle of the chaos. You MADE Corey and I invisible and forgettable on the biggest stage of our industry. I'm shocked that Black isn't as disgusted as I am at how you treated us.
Ian Kellan:
Jaice, please let...
Torture:
You forced our hands, pushed your own agenda, and then watched Corey smack around a body double while chowing down on a greasy burger! You egomaniacal…
Jaice chuckles.
Jaice Wilds:
First off, I never watched Evo 2. I heard the results from one of those podcasts that covers all the federations. So let's get that straight. Second, it was that podcast- along with multiple coworker suggestion- that I started considering myself and Corey for the Hardcore Title match. You fucked the pooch on that one; and again, I gracefully accepted the fact that the management wasn't giving us the go ahead. And as far as pushing my own agenda?
Wilds spins his chair to face the conglomerate of AW officials and legal team, standing and leaning over the table.
Jaice Wilds:
You allowed Corey to assault me from behind the scenes for damn near six months. Camila claimed that this was about getting my aggression out and maybe a little retribution in the process. And yet, no matter which one of you three I appealed to, NONE of you were willing to give me the proper stage. So, yes. I hired a body double to fulfill my contractual obligations of having a body present for the match, and I had myself a steak. Call after call, text after text, for months. And you only responded towards the end to tell me to screw myself. So fuck you. If you weren't willing to let me challenge Corey at Carnage, in a REAL match, then I'm entitled to every fucking penny without any of the fucking work.
Gravedigger starts to stand, but the legal team quickly stands to keep the officials from responding. The AW lead attorney speaks, wiping a head of sweat from his brow.
Henry Uberforth:
Perhaps it would be wise to table the discussion for now. Clearly, nobody is getting anywhere with both sides airing perceived slights; so let's convene with our individual groups and the legal teams will try to figure out a workable agreement for Wilds' permanent dismissal.
Before Jaice can respond, Ian covers his mouth and shakes his head.
Ian Kellan:
That's likely the most productive move. We'll be in touch.
Ian practically drags Jaice out of the board room, doing his best to keep his client muzzled. The AW management starts up, but is also kept at bay by their legal team. Wilds and Ian get into an elevator, Ian shaking his head as the doors close.
Ian Kellan:
Why do you insist on being so goddamn stubborn?
Wilds leans in the corner, his hands tucked into his pockets. He shrugs, exhaling.
Jaice Wilds:
Told you I didn't want to be here. Idiots trying to make false claims to break my contract… should have made an effort to call me. Then they COULD break ties easier.
Ian Kellan:
Jaice...
Jaice holds up a hand, nodding.
Jaice Wilds:
You just make sure I'm paid. Once this is done and over, I have plans to streamline someone else to the forefront.
Ian furrows his brow, intrigued.
Ian Kellan:
Signing somewhere else?
Jaice smirks, pulling his right hand from his pocket and pointing to Ian with a finger gun.
Jaice Wilds:
Alpha is about to SERIOUSLY go Pro.
------------------------
The following is a letter addressed and published to the Alpha Pro Wrestling website.
What did I say? Ya boi cleaned house with two men twice his size. Not to say that it was easy; Spartan was certainly everything I believed he would be. And I'll give Road Dawg his due: the man put up a bigger fight than I anticipated. May have underestimated him- I guess that's why they have the analogy with the book and cover. But at the end of the night, the Final General did exactly what he said he would do and picked up the 1, 2, 3.
With my first victory under my battle, it's a straight shot to Alpha Showdown. And wouldn't you know it, management threw the Spotlight into the main event. Let's not forget, though, the leadup to the Alpha Showdown Match. You have 16 talented individuals in 6 huge matches; five of those being title matches. We crown 4 new title holders, and have the first ever title defense in APW's short history. Even before the Showdown Match, this is a night for the history books, and I have to say that it is almost overwhelming to be a part of that. However! I do as I always do- strap up my boots, calm my nerves, and put on the show of a lifetime.
And so begins the cementing of Alpha Pro's legacy. Arguably the biggest name in the business today, and certainly the one most synonymous with chaos, gets to tear down the house with a plethora of other stars. While not all of them are established names in the business as of yet, each and every one of them has the potential for greatness. And if I'm going to put my ego aside for a moment to be honest, a few of these folks give me pause to consider my strategy for this match. I know what you're thinking: Jaice Wilds, the originator of instinctual combat, has a strategy? The truth, ladies and gents, is that in a match where one has to eliminate others via pinfall or submission, and one needs to keep his head on a swivel to ensure his longevity… yes, a strategy may be necessary. All it takes to be eliminated is to be caught off guard long enough for another competitor to roll you up; and that is not where I want to be. As I've said before; my adaptability and never-die attitude is why I am the measuring stick to which all others are compared. So every member of this match is going to be gunning for me, in hopes to make their potential victory that much more meaningful.
So how does my competition stack up? We have "Buzz" Worthy, an interviewer looking to break through inside the ring. I know a lot of people are gonna count the guy out, but follow me on this. He's been around the ring and talent for years. He's been in the gym with a lot of us. No, he isn't the odds-on favorite because he lacks actual experience; but his history with the business makes him a real dark horse competitor here. Honestly, I would not be surprised if he scored an elimination or two based solely on being underestimated.
Then you have the ones trying to prove themselves. Guys like MJ Brilliance, Johnny Blaze, Alex Scott and 3B who are looking to do little more than prove that they belong in this business. And there is nothing negative about that; trying to be better than yourself to show the world that you're more than some critic or hater wants to put on you? That's bravery. That's strength. And while it is my job to eliminate all these guys from the Showdown match, it doesn't take away from the fact that I respect their determination and their hustle.
You've got a perennial part-timer in Sandy Coconutz... That's not to say she isn't of value to the roster, mind you. I've seen Sandy in enough federations to know that she's learning and honing her craft. I'm simply putting out there that a part-time effort rarely results in long-term results. If you're wanting to go anywhere, my dear, you've got to start putting real effort into what you do.
Then we have guys like Allen Anderson and Smith Jones who are looking for that big win. Guys who know what they're doing, whose very lives have been about fighting and survival. These two are here looking for that big break into the spotlight, all eyes focused on the greatest prize that APW has to offer. You two are some decent combatants for certain, and I will be keeping an eye out to see what you each bring to the proverbial table.
And then, there's Lily.. Hey there, doll. I've seen you around a bit; shame that this has to be the way we finally meet face-to-face. I've got to be honest, Lil; your reputation makes you the one for me to watch. Much weight as my name carries in this business, you haven't exactly struggled much either. With the talent and success you bring to Alpha Showdown, you are very much my most apparent threat to victory. If this was a one-on-one encounter, I would be more favorable to my odds… but your presence in the match being only one of several seriously calls that definitive confidence into question. So, inasmuch as I'd like to pre-emptively announce my victory, I'm subject to admit the stakes against me and extend a gesture of well wishes.
If you'd all allow me, I would like to make a blanket statement to the lot of you. I know; I ask permission in the midst of a letter as though any of you are likely to spontaneously pop into my personal space to oppose. Such an improbable instance notwithstanding-
There is a large pool of talent in this match. And by the time this week's pay-per-view rolls to our match, the world will indeed be watching. Each and every one of you brings a different skill set, different attitudes. Even for someone like myself, who has a decade or so under his belt, may never be entirely prepared for every angle of this encounter. However, it is not simply coming down to who maintains the superior move list. It's going to take more than muscle or speed to come out on top. It's going to take more than a single finishing maneuver or well-placed signature to close this one out.
This match is going to take 150 percent. And if you aren't willing to go above and beyond what you believe yourself capable, you will not succeed. If you aren't able to will yourself on through mental fortitude after your body has reached its physical limits, you will not find yourself atop the pile when the final bell rings. If your mind, body and soul are allowed to succumb before you've toppled the upper echelon of this bout, you will find yourself wanting next week.
Once again, I will be straightforward with you. Ladies and gentlemen, I am not here for titles. I am not here to steal title opportunities from the deserving. I am here to separate the wheat from the chaff, the upper echelon from the lower class, the worthy from the unworthy. Once again, I will shed blood, sweat and possibly even tears in that ring as I push myself beyond my limits, and every member of this match will be forced to rise above what they are capable to ensure their place in the annals of history. Which of you will rise to the challenge and become the next big names in the business?? Or, perhaps the question should be: what happens to those who fail to achieve greatness when the last bell is rung??
Prepare yourselves, boys and girls. The Xtreme spectacle known as Jaice Wilds is coming in full force at Alpha Showdown, and only those who can be greater than themselves will stand beside me in the halls of Wrestling Gods. Until then, I'll be watching.
-------------------------
As Jaice finishes packing his gear, he hears a knock on his locker room door. He looks up, a slight furrow of his brow.
Jaice Wilds:
Should be open.
The door opens, a man slides in. Wilds shakes his head, zipping up his bag and slinging it over his shoulder.
Jaice Wilds:
Don't have time for this right now, man. I've got a girlfriend to get back to and a victory to…
The man starts up, Wilds shaking his head. A quick Xtreme Dream, the copycat Doom Squadder drops to the ground. Wilds looks down, a slight chuckle.
Jaice Wilds:
Tell whomever sent you that they can hit my cell. I'm not playing these damn games anymore.
Wilds starts out of his locker room, but suddenly has a change of heart. He kneels down, pulling the mask off…
Jaice Wilds:
I know this guy… Don't you work security for AW? Why did they send you here??
The dude is still unconscious, and clearly unable to answer Wilds' line of questioning. Jaice scoffs, walking out and heading for the parking lot.
Torture:
Bottom line, Wilds broke his contract when he didn't show up to Evolution 2, and caused us problems with the backlash. At this point, his belligerent disrespect of Action Wrestling and its management calls for his immediate release from said contract and all ties cut.
