Harvey's show begins in the ring. He is wearing a champagne suit with a white necktie. Leo is sitting at a table covered with an ornate cloth. She's wearing a vest to match Harvey. The audience thinks of a classic blackjack dealer.*
Harvey: Good evening Hiroshima! My name is Harvey Marx. I was going to dive right into tonight's program. But first, I have had a revelation.
As you know, I have yet to EARN a win in APW. I was lying awake last night and it hit me: I've been thinking too small. Why beat one opponent when I could throw the whole damn roster over the top rope?! I’m in the open rumble right here tonight at Liberty or Death!
Speaking of revelation…
*A deck appears in Harvey's hands. He fans the cards out on the table*
I thought we might ask the tarot about my chances in the rumble. Leo, please draw a card.
Leo: The first card in this spread is about a foundation for reaching the goal..
*Leo draws the seven of swords*
Harvey: An interesting message, ladies and gentlemen. This card symbolizes spontaneity and deception. I’m no stranger to thinking on my feet and I’ll have to tonight. There's no way of knowing when I’ll get into the match or who I'll see in the ring. This is just the kind of party I like! Deception is literally my job. I find ways to take people to places they never believe they could go, show them incredible things! I’m not above using a bit of smoke and mirrors in the ring either.
*A mixed reaction in the crowd, Harvey smiles* The card tells me to play to my strengths here. I’m here to win and to entertain, to give all of you something memorable and extraordinary every time out. I’m not about to start worrying about my honor or playing by the rules. The card is just a reminder that The Big Ticket will do whatever it takes to win the rumble and look good doing it. Draw the next card, Leo.
Leo: The card in the second position is about motivation.
*The Queen of wands is drawn*
H: The deck has graced us with royalty at just the right time. Rumble matches are kingmakers. Winners take their careers to another level. It's not just my career I have to worry about. You see, the queen of wands speaks to the influence of s woman who is creative, passionate and driven.
*The spotlight leaves Marx and finds Leo. The crowd cheers and she waves to them*
H: That's right! My motivation in this match to deliver for my crew. These people have elevated me personally and professionally. Especially Big Ticket Entertainment's own kingmaker, the brilliant and lovely miss Leonora!
*Another ovation. Leo playfully feigns embarrassment.*
H: Between this crew and our audience, the thousands here and the millions watching on Netflix around the world, I will be plenty motivated for the rumble. Next card, Leo.
*What happens next happens in a blink as Marx recognizes the card about to show. He takes a single stride to the side of the table, reaching with his right hand. He puts that hand gently over Leo's. She keeps her composure. With his other hand he's given a signal used for a long-retired illusion. Boris, ever the miracle worker and ever eager to blow things up, reads Marx's actions perfectly. Boris sets off the pyro sequence meant for the end of the act and cuts the camera giving a close up of the tarot spread on the jumbotron. As fireworks go off all around, Harvey turns the card upside down just before Boris restores the camera. After waiting for the out-of-place fireworks to end, the act resumes. It is clear to everyone something wasn't right*
L: In the third position, the card gives us an obstacle or warning
*She lifts her hands to reveal the five of pentacles, now upside down thanks to Harvey.*
H:Sorry about that little….curveball, folks. I couldn't keep Boris waiting. Today is..uh…his birthday and he just loves to hit that button.
*Harvey begins collecting himself, but his delivery seems forced*
….And a curveball from the deck, too! This card is reversed. The six of pentacles reversed can symbolize charity and helping people in need….I've been warned not to forget to make a few pretenders famous tonight and I'll be giving away beatdowns free of charge! How about one last card Leo?
L: Finally the tarot offers a glimpse into the outcome of the rumble!
The last card is drawn and placed in the spread. The Moon. Harvey snaps back into the performance*
H: Our reading ends much like it began. The Moon is a card about unseen forces, uncertainty, and self reliance. There are some things the cards keep to themselves. The universe can only do so much for me. There will be chaos in the ring tonight. I'll go in with nothing but two fists, salon quality hair, and a new tuxedo made just for the match….
*Harvey's hand hovers over the cards, which burst into flames*
….And make my own destiny.
*The house gradually goes dark until the only light is from the burning cards. The cameras fade out*
*Cut to backstage before the rumble*
Leo: You lied out there. To an audience. You've never done that .
H: I’m an illusionist…We lie.
L: Bullshit. You know what I mean. You always work off whatever card comes up, reversed or not. If you know the deck, you can tell any story you want to. Why reverse it? You lied, you screwed up the show, and you made me a part of it.
H: That card was a little too…real.
L: The five of pentacles? But it usually means….
H: I know. Financial problems. I’m sorry, Leo. I'll tell you after the match.
