A cellphone rings as our scene fades in from black to a beautiful young brunette female driving down I-4 between Deltona and Orlando Florida.
“Hi baby!” She said
“Hi. How far away are you?” He said as he sat on the porch drinking a beer
“Probably another 30 minutes or so. You know how I-4 is.”
“I know. I wish you weren’t coming back so late. I hate it when you drive at night.”
“Yeah but you know the way I drive. I’m always careful.”
“That’s why you do most of the driving. If it was me I’d be here in less than 20.”
“Yep. That’s why every sheriff’s office knows who you are from here to Daytona. I’ll see you in a little while ok?”
“Alright babe. I love you”
“Love you too”
That was the last time they spoke. Not long after they hung up, she was rear ended by a Mustang going 110mph who thought it was good idea to cut someone off. Not seeing her ahead of him, the guy driving the Mustang slams into her so hard that he flies left into the other side of I-4, going through the median and stopping right onto on coming traffic. At that moment, a Publix truck slams into her, ripping her car in half.
One week later, after identifying her body and attending her funeral, he stands in front of his lake in the back of the home they once shared. He’s drunk and holds the bottle of Macallan 18 and whatever remains inside. Three Xanax pills in his system, two muscle relaxers and the scotch he’s almost done with flow through his bloodstream like a raging fire.
“You took her from me! YOU! I’ve done everything right! I worked hard. I provided for her. I took care of her dying mother and gave them a home. I’ve done nothing but live my life according to your word and look at me now. What else do I have left to live for?”
“DAMN YOU!!!!”
He tosses the bottle into the lake and falls onto the grass. Tears running down his cheeks as he looks on at the ripples in the water.
“I can take your pain away”
“Who said that?!”
“I can give you everything you want. All you have to do is serve me. I won’t fail you”
He stands up and looks around but doesn’t see anyone.
“You want it all back? You want more than what you had before? Your wildest dreams and desires? A woman to love you again? I can do that”
He turns once again to see something rising out of the lake. At this point he believes that he’s hallucinating. Too much scotch? Too many drugs in his system? Did it matter? He stood up to see the thing rising out of the lake come towards him. First a mist and then it began to take form.
The form then became a man. But this wasn’t an ordinary man. He was about 7 feet tall, red skin, horns and a leather suit. Think of Al Pacino in the Devil’s Advocate but really ugly.
“All you have to do is shake my hand and everything you’ve lost will come back in more ways than one.”
And so began the story of Famine of the Vile formerly Hadrian Burke. From that day forward, the persona people saw on television during his wrestling matches was not just a persona. It was real. Other wrestlers feared being around him and feared working with him due to his sadistic nature. He was even fired from a company due to wrapping a metal chair that was set on fire around the head of one of his opponents. But he continued to work. He drew crowds everywhere he worked and even had fans worshipping him as if he were a god. But he did get exactly what he was promised. Fame, fortune, women, championships, legendary status. He had it all. However somewhere in the back of his mind somewhere, Hadrian was still conscious. He knew one day he would have to do something to pay this creature back because he knew how it worked. You don’t make a deal with a devil without being asked to do something in return.
In 2013 he walked away from it all after the death of his illegitimate son who was also a wrestler. The creature he signed a deal with took away someone he loved and again, he found himself if the same position he had been years before. So rather than continue to live the life he’d dreamed of, he walked off into the sunset never to be seen again. Until now. Something has called him back to make a return to his old ways. No women, no children, nothing holding him back from causing pain and destruction. Like a monk who walked away from civilization to find himself, The Demon King has risen to take his throne once again. To wreak havoc on a new generation of opponents that have not known fear or darkness like this.
The Vile One
For years, I’ve sat by waiting for the right moment to strike. Waiting for that opportune time to wreak havoc and lay waste to anyone who stands before me thinking that I’m just another newcomer with a gimmick. Some guy who decided to dress up in a costume to get beaten up in a ring in front of thousands of people. No, no, no. I am as real as it gets. The darkness, pain and suffering that flows through my veins is unrivaled. The last thing you will see before I destroy you is the darkness in my eyes. The empty soul and fire ready to engulf your very essence. When all is said and done, I will have taken from you what others have never been able to. I will own your very life force. The one thing that drives you. Your spirit. Your heart. You WILL be mine!
On Monday December 7th, I will face Leon Roberts and Lexi Hill. Two opponents whose fates have already been sealed even before that contract was signed. Three will walk in and only one will walk away. You have been warned and I hope you’re ready because at the end of the night, darkness WILL reign supreme!
