As he finished the butchering of his last kill, his gaze turned to Jake. His brown eyes were open and stared straight at him as if to say I know what you did, I’m coming for you. This didn’t phase Zeke, instead, he picked him up with a few huge grunts and carried him outside. A few feet away from the garage lay a cemetery where the unlucky few who turned away from the preacher were killed and buried there. It was an unusual plot of land as there were no gravestones. It was perpetually a daunting place, the kind of place Zeke loved.
As he carried him, memories of yesteryear started to rush over him like a river. Some were rough, and others pleasant. The ones that were rough, he held on to, and the pleasant ones, well, he loathed. In his own mind, there were enough people out there with sins that he didn’t need to indulge himself in anything that wasn’t about God, the Omnipresence. He knew that those led to temptation, and to his eventual downfall.
The one memory that was set on repeat was the one where he killed his mother and father because all they wanted him to do was go to that dreadful Sunday school. It was there that he was bullied and there, he learned the word of God, but it wasn’t the word of God he hated, no. What he abhorred was about the weekly ritual was the fact that it was his parents that forced him to go, they forced him to leave their side for hours at a time.
As mentioned in the aforementioned chapter, this is where he met Jake and attempted to kill his Sunday school teacher. What transpired thereafter, however is what really changed his life.
It was a late December afternoon. Zeke and his parents were just thrown out of the church just as the police arrived. They were made to stand out on the lawn as a plethora of inquiries were thrown at them. They came so hard, one after the other as if a ton of bricks were thrown in their faces. Minutes flew by as the investigation was ongoing inside of the building. Never in their wildest dreams did they think their son was capable of murder. They wondered what happened to him, but Zeke knew. He always knew that there was something hidden deep down inside that was waiting for the right moment to strike and this was it. He didn’t care about the consequences, his reality was all about cleansing the world of its sins, and he started with her. It was a failed attempt, but he learned from it.
In just a little over an hour, the detectives came out and nodded their heads. They motioned to the police to take the child into custody, but his mother and father stopped them. They pleaded with them not to and that they would take him home and put him in the city’s custody.
“Please, don’t take him! He’s all we got!” They screamed.
Detective Anderson looked at the couple. He was a slender man with short black hair and a brown armani suit. He looked like he was doing very well for himself. His green eyes darted back and forth from one person to the next, and finally, at Zeke. He sighed and shook his head.
“I really shouldn’t let you do this, but seeing as how this church already has a bad rep for its hateful ways, I’ll leave you to it. Just remember that if you don’t, I’ll come looking for you.”
They breathed a sigh of relief, but the young child narrowed his eyes and looked right at his parents. It was then and there that he knew what he had to do. He already formulated a plot to kill his parents and run away. There was no going back.
As the hours waned to darkness, the James family finally settled down in their home. Anxieties were heightened to the max, and nothing they did could quell their nervousness. Theodore and Allison did not want to send their child to the state. They loved him, but they had no other choice. It was either this, or tried as an adult for murder and imprisoned for life.
Ezekiel James was upstairs in his bedroom when he heard the discussion from his parent’s room, well more like yelling than a discussion. Theo understood the consequences and knew it was the right thing to do, even with his hate filled heart. Allison, on the other hand, wasn’t too sure. She really wanted him home. Ezekiel was her young boy after all.
“Theo, we can’t do it. We can’t send him away! I know he’s a monster, but he’s our SON! What in Jesus Christ’s name are we going to do!” She exclaimed as tears rolled down her eyes. Allison James was a wonderful woman. She had a heart of gold and never once spoke ill of anyone in her community. They noted her as kind, loving and respectful. To the members of the church, she embodied Christ and everything He stood for, while Theodore had a darkness about him that scared them.
“Listen Allison, I don’t want to either, but you and I both know that this is the right thing to do. We can’t sit here with our fucking arms crossed and do NOTHING! THAT PISSANT HAS RUINED OUR LIVES!” Theo’s mouth opened and hit the ground just as Allsion’s rage spilled over into the open behind the sadness and leaped off the bed.
Before he knew it, Allison was grabbing him by the throat. Theodore was struggling to escape and succeeded by clocking her in the back of her head. During the struggle somewhere,Zeke was able to make his way to the kitchen. There he searched frantically for a knife just as he heard another thud. He could only surmise what happened then. He had only been watching for a few minutes before all this went down and made his way to the kitchen and then back up the stairs. It was here the deed was then done. Amidst all the yelling and screaming, neither of them saw Zeke and he stabbed and killed them both. He then became instantly mortified. The sudden realization of not having parents anymore scared him, but then, a weird feeling came over him.
He began to laugh hysterically.
Why the laughter?
Perhaps it was because it was the release of his parental figures, or perhaps he saw himself as a martyr of God and Jesus Christ. Whatever it was, he was free. Whatever it was, he chose to follow Christ and God. His soul was free, and so was his mind. The young child did whatever it took to become what he was today.
Flash forward back to the present and the man that is now Ezekiel James was doing well for himself. He had survived this long without getting caught, and will continue to do so. The church he presided over followed him, and they understood the consequences if they didn’t. And Jacob Henderson felt that consequence as he died, and was then buried in the graveyard next door.

Mr. Jackson, welcome to God’s House. I have watched you and I have seen what you are capable of, but for every action you take there is an equal and opposite reaction. The moment that you won that title is the moment I started eyeing you. You were once the hunter, but now, you are the hunted. Do you remember what it was like to become the champion? I doubt that you do. What I remember is how you treated those opponents of yours. Yeah, sure, you can say it’s all about me and blah, blah, blah, but in the end, you’re fooling yourself.
You see Jackson, what it really is about is spreading the good word and that word is the Bible. I wonder if you really ever believed in God. I wonder where you have lost all faith and believed in yourself, because, guess what? You didn’t do it all by yourself, He did it for you. Once you let go and let God, everything comes into play and everything will go your way.
There’s this little story that I like to tell from time to time, about how, I freed myself and finally let go. You’ve had paternal parents, I take it? Of course you had, everyone has. Now, the story that I’m about to tell is how little God-fearing Zekey did away with his parents. Oh, did I go a little too far? I didn’t make poor Jackson Wackson wet his bed did I? WELL TOO LATE!
Excuse me, I tend to go a little too far. Well let’s just say that I went away for a long time for what I did and with that time away, I did things that I never realized I could. I started to educate myself in the good book, and from that book I learned what kind of people there are in the world. You know about those kinds of people, don’t you Mister Jackson?
Hmm?
Those kinds of people are SINNERS! And you know what we do with sinners right? RIGHT? We spread the word, and to you, I spread the word of defeat. In the Bible, defeat is characterized as success, in which case your defeat at the hands of me will be my success in overthrowing the North American champion.
Soon the word will be spread, and the sheeple of the APW will remember me in the annals of history as the one who has taken down the one, the only, America Jackson! And it will be my pleasure to do so.
Remember, with God you can do anything, without God, we are nothing!
