CHAPTER ONE…
“...I came into the ring for the first time in a long ass while. I can’t even remember the last time I fought. I do remember that when I walked out of that ring I was holding gold. Here I am in Alpha Pro Wrestling, my true and official debut. Shit hit the fan. Darkness fell. And down went the bull of a man Apocalypse with a K. Admittedly, I was a bit nervous that night. Pacing back and forth in the locker room. I wasn’t sure how I was going to do in the ring. I was well prepped. I was in shape. Hell I never fell out of shape, but what was the biggest worry was that fucking adrenaline dump. Everyone has it. Either when they are finally in a big spot. Making their debut, me, in a new company. Trying to uphold my reputation that was laid in the past. Although I was pretty sure not a single person in this company knows the trials, tribulations, the blood, the sweat and even tears I shed in my past. Fighting was my life for a very long time. Then after achieving almost all that I could, and of course the birth of Dimitri, my heart was no longer in it. So I retired from the fight game and became a trainer and an executive. A cush style job you could say. I still trained my ass off each and every day as I trained young up and comers in this business. I honestly didn’t realize how big of an itch for competition I had until I showed up on Monday Night Metal a couple weeks back. I did what I said I was going to do. Walked in with a smile. Walked out with an even bigger smile and the sweet taste of victory. Now that the debut hump is done, now it is time to really put in the work. Shoot for the tip top of this company. Adding another gold belt to my collection…”
I was elated to have won my official debut in Alpha Pro Wrestling. I arrived home and walked through the door, there was my beautiful wife Jesse and our amazing son Dimitri with one of my old merch tee shirts on. I dropped my bag as he ran at me with a big grin on his face. I picked him up and gave him a huge kiss as I strolled over to Jesse. Dimitri was so happy.
“You did it Daddy. Mommy let me watch it and I wasn’t sure what happened then the show came back on and well there you were getting that three second pin thing. Great job Daddy.”
“Thanks buddy.”
I smiled as I held him and stepped to Jess. I gave her a tight hug and soft but very passionate kiss upon her lips. Dimitri didn’t like that and was trying to fight out of my grasp on him.
“EEEEWWW!!”
Jess and I laughed. I sat him down and kneeled down in front of him.
“I am happy I was able to make you happy my boy. I hope to continue to do that.”
Jesse asked then what's next for me.
“Well I get this next Monday’s show off, but I will be booked for another fight the Monday after. I won’t know until after this Monday night Metal.”
She nodded with a grin.
FAST FORWARD TO LAST MONDAY…
The new edition of Monday Night Metal came to a close. It was quite the entertaining show. Dimitri passed out on my lap about halfway through. Pretty much as soon as the show was over, I picked my boy up and carried him to his bed and wished him a wonderful night. Kissing him on the forehead. Jess just came in from her work day and work out. She kissed me as she went upstairs and jumped in the shower. I went to my office and turned on my computer. It booted up quickly and I went straight to my email. There it was. My opponent for the next week’s Metal show.
MONDAY NIGHT METAL… SEASON THREE EPISODE EIGHT… ELLIOT SISCOE versus RENAISSANCE TAYLOR...
I read it twice and out loud I said.
“Damnit, they forgot the second T in my name again. I’m gonna have to chat with them about that.”
I sat and immediately went into research mode. Looking into this Renaissance Taylor character. Many entries come up upon my search. First thing’s first, Renaissance is Renee Taylor. Interesting choice for my second opponent. Scrolling through. Skimming through some minor things. She fought on the show I debuted on and got a victory. I saw her win tonight. A sole challenger to someone or something by the name of Giggles. Alright that’s a base to begin with let’s dig a little deeper. I pull up her biography. At least the information that is available to me to look over. Young. A helluva lot younger than me. She’ll be a little spunky. Gotta weather the storm in the beginning. Similar mixed martial arts background, but mine was more for the streets not the competition style, I am sure she was taught. An academic. Hmmmm. Well I guess I am gonna have less of an IQ this young upstart fighter. Closing down all the info I read on Miss Taylor, I decide to relax into my chair and use my camera right there to shoot some words of discouragement Renee’s way.
“Hello out there y’all. It’s your friendly knucklehead Elliott Siscoe. So here I am a week away from my next fight in that Alpha Pro Wrestling ring. First off before I get into the brass tacks of this little recording. Thank you all so much for the welcome y’all gave me last Monday. It was quite overwhelming, but we did it, didn’t we my fellow freaks and geeks out there? Beat that big dude. Now I have been given another good challenge. One that will take some tricky creativity to get the win.”
I lean forward with a smile.
“So the next foe for me to defeat is a young lady by the name of Renaissance Taylor. But she was born Renee, so I will go ahead and refer to you as that Miss Taylor. I guess first and foremost, congratulations are in order for you. I guess you are in the freakshow now or whatever that little thing that popped up after you won tonight. I think you did well. I will break your fights and stuff down further when this is all said and done. So where should I begin? Your beginning? Nah I will just start with this. You jumped on the Alpha Pro Wrestling roster not too long before me. I think maybe you have two more fights under your belt here than I. That’s good. I have globs of years more experience than you do in life and in the fight game. I trust you will be coming at me like a rabid dog off it’s leash huh? We are similar in skill. You’re a little shorter than me but honestly the tale of the tape is really meaningless until the night we fight.”
I shake my head slightly. What the hell am I doing. This ain’t how I’m supposed to do these things. I know I ain’t anything like Jacoby, plus I ain’t prepared for that type of shenanigans.
“Alright now that I have said all the hard facts. That isn’t why we are doing these little recordings? So Miss Taylor, I think I should just sit here and find something that is quite meaningless to poke fun at. Maybe your name? Maybe your physical looks? Your stature? Call you a nerd or whatever the bullies call really smart people? Nah. None of that matters. What really matters is what happens when the night comes. When all of this is done and over with. And we get down and dirty and battle it out for supremacy. I am honestly impressed with what you are capable of when fights break out. One thing that I have noticed that I will take advantage of…”
I pause dramatically, rubbing my chin.
“...Oh you thought I would really reveal that to you and the public. Shit little girl you have a long bumpy ass road ahead of you if you think that will happen all the time. You are skilled in several aspects of the fight game. But can you take down three freaks that are fiending for crack and are carrying weapons that could fuck your pretty face up? Oh wait you did something similar to that tonight. But they didn’t have weapons. They didn’t seem like they were fiending for crack either. So having a nice and easy set up for you is easy. What will you do when the game plan you concoct goes to hell in a handbasket? Will you lose your marbles and begin to panic? Part of me thinks that will happen. You seem to need structure. Outcomes to happen as you envision them. The other part of me says that your mind is too critically thinking to panic. To curl up in a ball wanting to go back home to mommy that you hate. I will train and prepare for both instances. I will be more than happy to send you crying to your mommy and daddy. Wait. You don’t like them? I did kinda mention that before. Miss Taylor, you hate your mom. She was trying to turn you into a carbon copy of her huh? You rebelled but in a way that a straight shooter and highly intelligent woman would do. Should I even talk about your daddy? Nah. I don’t think that is fair. Shit you are hella lucky, you got both your parents still living and breathing on this planet. I lost my folks way back when. I was just a chap living on the streets after that. And I am not talking like the streets here in this country. Not the mean streets of Greenwich Connecticut. Nah Renee, I’m talking about the streets of Hamburg Germany. Then Berlin. All hell was going down then. I was but a little guy, nine or ten years old. I had to fight then. And it was for a permanent thing. My life. I needed to survive. So to give you a heads up, you may get to see the beast that I can be when things begin to get heavy. Hard. And regular tactics aren’t working. I have been called cocky. Arrogant in the past. Hell I don’t deny it. But the truth is Miss Taylor. I know what I have lived through to get to this point in my life. What did you do in your life that was so hard? Be smarter than your parents? Outsmart your peers and friends? Exactly. You didn’t have to fight off grown ass men for a slice of bread. I won’t kill you in there Renee. I have better self control than that, but I want you to understand that I have things in my back pocket that no one on this planet knows about but me.”
I flash a crooked grin before leaning back.
“Alright Miss Taylor. All the speaking shit is out of the way. Now it is time for action. See you Monday night.”
I shoot a wink before shutting the camera off. I shut down my computer and walk out of my office, leaving it in darkness. Second fight. Second victory.
