The scene opens to find Alexander Hayes sitting in a chair looking straight ahead. Alexander is looking thoughtful as he looks up.
A slight smirk can be seen coming from his lips as his eyes glow bright with hope and stars of his first pay per view match in APW.
Hayes: Going into Showdown I am on a three match losing streak. Not exactly what I wanted to show the world when I came back into this business, but you know, shit happens, and it happens to me a lot.
Hayes: This week, I have been given a great honor, in fact an honor so prestigious that it's valued higher than the hot valedictorian chick I dated back in college. That's right, the Pen-Ultimate battle royal. This is my chance to become a contender for one of the titles in APW. My goal is the APW World Heavyweight title. I'm not gonna settle for less than what I deserve even if I have to take it.
You see, what I'm trying to say is that I'm done toying around. What is going to transpire is so monumental, so paramount that APW will remember this for years to come, Alexander Hayes will win a match. That's right folks, you haven't even seen the real me yet. What you've seen the last three weeks is a man that is living in a shell of his mere, former self.
Alexander stands up from his chair and moves closer to the camera.
Hayes: I used to be an All-American from Stanford University with the best amateur wrestling record in the nation. I had a four point zero grade point average and was in the top one percent in my class, none of you peons in this company could ever hope for that kind of success, no one! I did that with hard work and perseverance.
Hayes: You know what the sad thing is though? The sad thing is I had to work ten times as hard as everyone else in that fucking god damn school to prove my worth. And that's a fact! What people saw from me is the poor boy from the reservation who wouldn't amount to anything. And they saw that all because of the color of my skin.
Hayes: Now, I'm not making any excuses. What I'm trying to do is to illustrate a point and that point is don't judge me just because of what you saw over the past few weeks. The past few weeks is that, the past.
Hayes doesn't move but grows unusually reserved. He furrows his brows as he puts his long hair in a ponytail. The vibrant face of Hayes becomes suddenly thoughtful as he finally makes his way towards his fireplace and rests his arm on the mantel that shows all his awards and there were a lot. They varied from his degree in literature to the four NCAA championship trophies he helped his team win. On either side of his conferment sat pictures of his ex-wife who passed away in an automobile accident eight years ago.
Hayes: You see all these? Every single thing here is something that I have won and earned with hard work and intelligence that only a few can achieve in their lifetime. And this picture? This picture is of my Amanda. I keep asking myself why I survived that crash and she did not...but now I know why. I persevered because I had a higher goal that my Creator has given to me, and that is to win gold in APW. And that is to become THE guy that this company needs to take in the right direction and it starts this week at Showdown.
Hayes: This leads me to you, Vonn Richter. Your use of an analogy to the greatest movie in history, Forrest Gump is, well, mediocre at best. I mean, seriously, a little more creativity and you might have had me laughing my arse off, but instead, you've made me irate by comparing me to a walnut cream. Is that the best you can come up with? The tired old line of, “Life is like a box of chocolates,” is so nineteen nineties. You’re about a couple decades too late.
Two weeks ago you faced off against Travis or whatever those symbols are he uses for his name are, and you lost. You lost against a misbegotten lemming that you forgot what you were doing, and you’re telling me that you’d kick my ass in the ring. I beg to differ Mr. Richter for the fool only realizes what’s transpiring after it’s too late.
Alexander then cocks his head to one side and then back to the other as if he was looking outside the window in his living room. The same smirk spread across his face like a wildfire to that of which his confidence has hailed him once more. The mere man that battles with a mentality that no one could understand has finally returned. No longer was he the man that was beaten, and battered. He remains steadfast in his literal goals. Alexander returns.
Hayes: Lestrange, I understand, really I do but the contempt that you show the American race has far exceeded your own trifles. What you fail to conceive in your own cognizant mind is this: America could care less about what you say to her. America will prevail just like it has in the past. America will stand forth with the strongest in the world. Your trepidation of this nation has been greatly exaggerated. Not all America is about the so-called gun toting white boy. Not all America is so expedient in their judgement. There are quite a few of us that do have values and morals that you so quickly cast aside. That, my friend, will be your downfall. There are lessons to be learned, and I will be your instructor.
Speaking with confidence, he bangs his chest. Moments like this are what Alexander prides himself of. The Stanford graduate, and the award winning wrestler that he knows he is. The cloud that resides over his head finally lifts, and doubts clear from his mind as he speaks about his opponents at Showdown.
Hayes: It may seem that I’m not talking about the rest of you, but I’ll make this perfectly clear to everyone else in the match. I am not one to back down from a fight, my father taught me that much. He instilled in me the will of a warrior. That may sound cliche, but when you think about it, my people are warriors. It’s in our blood and always will be. I will rise up from the ashes to become the new APW world heavyweight champion, and I will do it starting at Showdown. With the intelligence and integrity that I have, no one, not one of you will be able to match wits with me, and I guarantee it!
