"What do you want me to say?"
The scene opens up to a shot of Andrew Barnes, standing in the middle of an empty arena, from high above in the nosebleeds.
"That I deserve the loss?"
The Met Center to be exact. This is where Andrew Barnes lost his chances at early gold against Eli Beazley in a fishy roll-up pin. Andrew, still feeling the affects of Eli's swanton bomb, leans a little on his left side to take the weight off the right knee due to Eli's dive.
"That Eli Beazley was the better man?"
Andrew Barnes shrugs as he stands there in his black suit, a beaten soul inside, "Sure. Whatever."
He hobbles forward and the camera cuts to the main floor, where we get a more detail shot of Andrew Barnes.
"The fact is, Eli Beazley. You knew I was a caring soul... WAS."
Andrew bends down to rub his right knee, "When your body collided with my knees at the end, I knew something off. At least I thought something was off. You were in pain- more pain than two-hundred pounds of meat almost shattering these kneecaps. Eli Beazley had me.. I thought he was a good dude."
"Now?" Andrew glances around the empty arena.
"Now I know you are just like the rest here in Alpha Pro Wrestling. Always looking for the easy path. You fucking roll me up while checking on you, Eli!? I don't care about the fans thinking so highly of you.. You're a cheat. In fact, anyone that cheers your name should be ashamed of themselves. We continue to glorify the likes of Eli Beazley, and now the world is in a pit of despair. Always stretching the ""truth"" when they are lying to your face." Andrew mentions at the end, with his hands motioning as if he's stretching out a string of thread.
"And if you win your match against America Jackson, Eli. Just know that the foundation of that title run will be as shaky my fucking right knee after you failed to successfully connect with the The Hollywood High Dive." Andrew smacks his hands together.
The echoes from the clap spreads across the empty arena and returns to Andrew, as he continues to stand there, looking into the camera.
"You see, Aaron Blaze. People like Eli want to be one of the good guys. Just like me. I want to be THE good guy. I want to show the world that there are better paths. Not the ones people like Eli Beazley take. The path that is free of any blemishes. Nothing that will make people second guess your legacy. Eli Beazley already tarnished his, Aaron. He tossed it away and no one cares because he was supposedly hurt. Yet, he has a match coming up?"
"Hurt."
"My knees fucking hurt!" Andrew spits anger at the camera.
"Yet, with a busted knee and all, I got up and checked on my opponent and his well-being. I didn't let the pain stop me from helping our fellow man. I sure as hell didn't use that chance to pick up the win, like so many would here. Hell, maybe you will do the same, Aaron? Maybe you're just like Eli?"
"A CHEATER!" Andrew yells, with his neck muscles springing up.
"You gonna take advantage of my kindness, Aaron? I know I'm asking too many questions, but that match last Monday.. It doesn't sit well with me. As much as I want to praise you, Aaron. You're talented and have a mean Canadian Destroyer and some notable matches here."
Andrew lowers his head, lifts up his right index finger and blurts out, "BUT!" A devious laugh follows.
"As much as I want to say that you have what it takes to beat me.. I can't let that happen."
He shakes his head and stares back at the camera with his hazel eyes.
"You see, I have to make an example out of someone. I'm not going to cost Eli his match against America. That would be petty. No. None of that from Andrew Barnes. Instead, I'm gonna show the world the demon inside of me!" Andrew rips open the white button-up shirt underneath the suit jacket.
"TI FERIRO!"
Staring directly into the camera, Andrew Barnes starts thumping his chest, vigorously.
"I WILL HURT YOU!"
THUMP
A white outline is starting to appear with every thump of the fist to the bare chest.
THUMP
"I'M NOT GONNA STOP THIS RAMPAGE UNTIL I GET BACK TO YOU ELI!"
Abruptly, Andrew Barnes stops smacking and stands there, his chest turns brighter and brighter by the second.
"Monday Night Metal.. I will blaze a new path!"
Andrew points to the camera, "I have been wronged.. AND RESTITUTION WILL COME, ELI!"
Andrew snaps out of the blind rage that was controlling him, and chuckles, "Now. Now. Now. You don't have to watch your back, Eli. That's not who I am."
He flashes a smile, as if a new person stands before the cameras. At ease. Relax. Andrew Barnes lowers his voice to a more appropriate tone.
"I am NOT a coward." He shakes his head.
"No. Instead, just watch.. Watch before your match with Alexander Hayes. Whatever legacy Aaron Blaze has left will be smothered and tossed away like your dignity, Eli. That roll up may seem small to you, but it has opened my eyes. I now see what I must do to cement my legacy here. I have to actually hurt you, Eli. Just like I will hurt Aaron Blaze this coming Metal. The man has a terrible record as is, with losing to the likes of Corey Black and such. It would only be decent of me to cull the weak here in Alpha Pro. Aaron Blaze will be the bookmark. A start to where I unknowingly left off in my life. A calling from the heavens, telling Andrew Barnes... A cut above the rest; to show this industry that it has been too lenient on the likes of Eli and Aaron. That someone must stand up and make this place pure and free of all that resort to cowardly ways."
"I know you're not really hurt, Eli. You faked it. Like I said, you preyed on my kindness. You will probably say and act as if you're tearing at the seam. But you're not. Just like you act like a crowd favorite, but I know deep down you're just using your fans. Stepping stones to something bigger, eh? The more they chant your name, the more you get chances here. Why? Because of greed. Sell more shirts. Get more chances."
Andrew Barnes tilts his head, reaches into the front pocket of his jacket, and pulls out a white handkerchief, "Here you go, Eli. This is to wipe the bullshit off your face." He tosses the handkerchief at the camera and walks away with the screen cutting to static.
The camera crew stop recording, "Great job, Barnes!" One of the workers gives Andrew a thumbs up, as the rest start packing up for the day.
"Thanks, buddy. I'll see you guys later." Andrew Barnes waves goodbye to the crew and pulls out his cellphone and dials a number. He stands by, waiting for an answer on the other end.
"Hey, yeah, I'm done with the promo." Andrew says.
A high pitch female voice appears on the other end with, "Alright! I'm still waiting out here in the parking lot."
Andrew smiles and mentions, "You didn't have to wait, you know."
"It's cool beans. I had to pick up some things for Legend, anyways. And we're best friends!" Jessie cheerfully says, as we get a shot of a petite brunette, uneven glasses and hair a mess with strays all over in a ponytail.
Andrew starts to walk, gingerly- due to a bad right knee, towards the exit door.
"What did the old man want now?" Andrew asks while opening the door to the outside.
The door cracks open and in comes a beam of light smacking Andrew in the face, he holds up his free hand, making his way towards Jessie's car.
Jessie turns her head to the backseat of the car, "Oh, just the same ole crap."
"I see you.. Right here!" He waves, with the sunlight still hurting his eyes, "I didn't know I was in there that long. Jesus Christ!"
Andrew points to his phone once in view of Jessie's vision. He motions hanging up the phone when in front of Jessie's car, due to them being close enough to hear without it.
Jessie her puts phone away and smiles at Andrew when he settles in the seat.
"So.. Did you give them the whole ""I'm a badass."" I have a demon inside- type of malarkey?" Jessie asks as she turns the engine on, ready to drive out of the parking lot together.
Andrew nods with a smirk, "Yeah.. It's fucking hard being a face in this business. I feel like I'm sounding more and more heelish with every promo."
Jessie giggles and replies with, "Why you think John went that route?"
The scene cuts to Johnny Legend preparing himself for his promo against Andrew Logan in XWF. He starts reading to himself from a piece of paper, as he stands in his underwear, around stains and mold that cover the walls, "Fuck you. You fucking fuck. You fucking suck and your mom is a cum guzzlin... Oh, this is gold."
The scene cuts back to Andrew Barnes and Jessie, as they drive to the hotel where Andrew is staying.
Andrew chuckles, "You're right." He lowers the window a bit to let some air inside, "I just gotta figure out a better way, though. I gotta find something new. Something that makes me stand out among the rest." Andrew mentions while staring out at the passing buildings.
"I don't think good guys say they will destroy their opponent?" Jessie asks, as she pays close attention to the road.
The warm breeze blows through their hair, as it swirls around inside the car, "Again. If I had it figured out.. I wouldn't be saying these things. I'm left with threats that I don't even have my full support on. Like, I lost to Eli Beazley. So now I have doubts on if I can even take Aaron Blaze!? I mean, what the shit is that?"
Jessie has a concern look upon her face, still paying attention to the road, "I'm sure the people will see you mean well in your promos."
A few seconds of silence pass between the two until Andrew finally breaks it with, "I just hate this doubt in myself. You know? I defeated Oblivion AND Soul Reaver. Not a easy fucking task. Two giants in Alpha Pro. Yet, this loss to Eli has already shattered what momentum I had here... It's sticking. It just fucking sucks." Andrew looks away from Jessie and back out at the window.
Jessie smiles, trying to cheer Andrew up by saying, "At least you don't have to wear these." She jingles a box behind her while driving, which happen to be a box full of adult diapers. Bulk buy.
Andrew laughs, "Oh god! Keep that shit away from me!" He leans away from the box between the two, leaving Jessie to laugh some more.
"Don't threat it, dingus. You'll think of something to make your mark there." Jessie reassures Andrew.
"Yeah. Thanks." Andrew says with a hint of sarcasm.
His eyes stay open, even with the breeze drying them a bit. Andrew Barnes stares outside, at the blur of colors from buildings to grass and people, all joining into one as Andrew drifts away as they drive off into the distance; following the scene to fade to black.
