The sweet sounds of a piano fill your speakers followed immediately by a 80’s-ish guitar riff. It’s of course “Lost in the Woods” from the Frozen soundtrack. We’re going full, cheesy music video for this one. Your screen comes to life with a very somber looking Eli Beazley walking in the woods. He stops and brushes his hand against the bark of a tall pine tree. Eli looks off into the distance and we switch to a shot of the Jr. Heavyweight Championship atop a pedestal.
“And, you're gone, off on a different path than mine
I'm left behind, wondering if I should follow?’”
We get a shot of Eli winning the Jr. Heavyweight Championship. We then switch to a shot of Eli. He is in a flat clearing in the woods twirling around in circles as he hugs the belt close to his chest.
“You had to go, and of course it's always fine
I probably could catch up with you tomorrow”
Eli runs through the woods. He stops every few feet to call out for the belt.
“But is this what it feels like to be growing apart?
When did I become the one who's always chasing your heart?”
When did I become the one who's always chasing your heart?”
Eli Beazley is now reaching out in desperation as the Jr. Heavyweight Championship floats away from him. With the belt out of reach, Eli drops to the ground. He throws his head back and screams towards the sky.
"Now I turn around and find I am lost in the woods
North is south, right is left, when you're gone"
Eli looks over a map. We see a circle on the map with a picture of the belt in the middle. Eli rotates the map around to orient himself.
“I'm the one who sees you home, but now I'm lost in the woods”
Eli sits on a tree branch singing along.
“And I don't know what path you are on
I'm lost in the woods”
Eli continues to look through the woods in desperation. He looks down at his waist and traces the outline of where the belt should be with his hands.
“Up till now the next step was a question of how
I never thought it was a question of whether.”
We leave the woods and turn to a shot of Eli in a restaurant. This is a fancy place filled with people. Across the table from Eli is the belt. It’s sitting on its own chair and Eli is pleading with it. We can’t hear the words but we watch as he drops to his knees as everyone in the restaurant turns to watch.
“Who am I, if I'm not your guy?
Where am I, if we're not together forever?”
We flashback to Bulletproof and see Giggles holding up the Jr Heavyweight Champion as a devastated Eli can be seen lying in the corner of the ring.
“Now I know you're my true north, 'cause I am lost in the woods”
Eli looks to the North Star in the sky only to find that the star has been replaced in the night sky with the belt.
“Up is down, day is night, when you're not there
Oh, you're my only landmark, so I'm lost in the woods”
Eli wanders a few feet forward and then collapses at the bottom of a tree and sings along to the song.
“Wondering if you still care”
The music begins to pick up in the bridge and Eli climbs to his feet and strikes a triumphant pose.
“But I'll wait for a sign that I'm on your path.”
Eli looks again to the North Star but now the Jr. Heavyweight Championship has been replaced with the North American Championship.
“‘Cause you are mine.”
Eli rubs his eyes. He turns to the sky and now we see the APW Championship has become his North Star.
“Until then, I'm lost in the woods.”
The final shot of this Eli Beazley music video is of Eli on front of a ship with his arms stretched around. Why is Eli recreating that famous shot from the movie Titanic? Who knows, but he is. Slowly the music fades out and the scene on the ship fades away and we see Eli standing in front of a green screen.
“Did we get it?”
Eli looks over at the very confused director, who nods his head and gives Eli a half-hearted thumbs up. Eli tells him great and then pats him on the back. We follow Eli as he walks out of this studio. We go down a hallways and finally through the exit. We’re outside the studio now and Eli finally turns back to the camera.
“Breeziacs... What’s up you beautiful people? I have been dreading this moment right here. I didn’t want to stand in front of these cameras and cut a promo without MY belt. Now it’s real. For the last few weeks I have busy with the Lucha Bowl. I had last week off for a little vacay and now we’re here. It’s just you, me and Davie the cameraman. But if it feels like something is missing it is because we're missing a friend. There isn’t this beautiful hunk of gold slung over my shoulder or wrapped around my waist. It’s real. I’m no longer your Jr. Heavyweight Champion.”
Eli inhales deeply letting those words linger in the air.
“I’ve thought about this moment for a long time. Breezy Nation, I know you’re hurting. And I couldn’t figure out what exactly to say to you. We’ve been through so much. You were with me every step of the way as I became THE longest-reigning Jr. Heavyweight Champion in history. You were with me for every title defense. And you were there when Giggles beat me.”
Another big pause from Eli here.
“I have felt lost since Bulletproof. That belt defined who I was and who we were. But Breeziacs, we’re not actually lost. Being Jr. Heavyweight Champion was great. It is the highlight of my career up to this point. But I think we all knew that we could only be Jr. Heavyweight Champ for so long. There are bigger and better things to accomplish in APW. And I say that as someone who loves that belt. But Breeziacs, it’s time to set our course for something else. It’s time to move forward. Our path was always meant to separate from the Jr. Heavyweight Championship.”
Eli stops again.
“Breeziacs, I don’t know where our path will go next. I don’t know if we end up chasing after the North American championship or maybe we’re ready to go after the APW Championship. Maybe our path takes us in another direction altogether. All I know is that our path will take us forward. Each and every week we move towards that bigger and brighter future that Breezy Nation is destined for. And that starts this week against a familiar foe. Alex Scott.”
Eli pulls his sunglasses out from his pocket and dramatically puts them on.
“Alex, here we are again. What is this? Is it match three or four? I think this will be number three. Either way, I don’t think I need to remind you that I’m batting one thousand against you. I don’t need to remind you that Eli Beazley appears to be your Kryptonite. I know that you see this match as an opportunity for some payback. You’re probably licking your lips at the thought of beating me for once. Alex. it would be a massive mistake on my part if I assumed that those previous wins meant a damn this week. We could wrestle 100 times and I could win 99 in a row and that doesn’t mean that the 100th match is a guaranteed win. That’s the beauty of this sport. You’re only as good as your last match. If I overlook you this week I know that you’re going to beat me. You’re a damn good wrestler, Alex. You are very capable of beating anyone on any given night. But I also know that if I get in that ring and do my thing that I am going to walk out with another W. Because at the end of the day I’m better than you.”
Eli stops again. He shakes his head.
“Alex, I hate talking that way. I’m a nice guy. I always find the best in the people. Alex, I like you. I really do. You have earned my respect in the ring. Every time we have been in the ring together I have had to work for my victory. Beating you has never been easy and it won't be easy on Metal. But Alex I will win on Monday and I promise it will be my most decisive victory yet. Because this match isn't about our little rivalry. It's not about two of APWs most underrated going at it. This match is about me finding my footing in APW. This is about me putting the entire fed on notice. Eli Beazley is coming. Alex, sometimes people overlook me. I'm not your typical wrestler. I'm not just going to stand in front of the camera and talk about the 37 ways that I am going to kick your ass. I'm going to. Make it fun. I'm going to throw a music video in the mix. I'm going to pretend to be a motivational speaker. I'm going to mix it up. Can I be a little silly sometimes? Sure. But Alex you should be the first one to testify of my talent in the ring. You've had a front row seat and you know that I'm no joke. So Monday night is about me showing the rest of APW what you already know. It's about me proving to APW that I am the real deal. I am someone to be taken seriously. And if you're Zaigon or America you should be concerned about Eli Beazley.''
Eli stares straight ahead at the camera. After a few seconds he flashes that famous Eli Beazley smile at us again.
"Alex, I'm looking forward to this one. I'm looking forward to the challenge that comes from facing you. I'm looking forward to giving the fans a damn good match. I'm excited to be in front of the Breeziacs again. But most of all I am excited to get back on the right track. I'm excited to get a victory. Which is exactly what is going to happen. Alex, I'll see you on Monday night!
Eli high fives the camera and then makes his way over to a red SUV. We watch as he gets in the car and drives away.
