Our adventure begins last week at the end of Lucha Bowl Showdown. Ultimo Extremo was victorious in his main event match, and now walks through the curtain with momentum in the tournament. As he gets backstage, he starts to remove the mask… until he notices a camera on him. With a sigh, he nods as a masked woman approaches him with a microphone. She has a sticker on her jacket that says, "Hola. Me llamo Reina Manzana."
¡Reina Manzana!
"Hola. Me llamo Reina Manzana."
¡Ultimo Extremo!
"I see that."
¡Reina Manzana!
"Congratulations on your main event victory at Lucha Bowl Showdown! La Princesa de Oro put up a valiant effort but you still prevailed."
¡Ultimo Extremo!
"My intentions on winning were clear."
¡Reina Manzana!
"Early reports are hitting the internet that your match was rated five stars! Any thoughts?"
¡Ultimo Extremo!
"Several… but none that are important right now. Right now… I'm tired… I'm sore… I just want to find my wife and get outta here."
¡Reina Manzana!
"Oh! Your wife is pro wrestling superstar---"
¡Ultimo Extremo!
"Reyna de Hielo. Yes. That's her."
¡Reina Manzana!
"There were rumors months ago that she was in talks with APW but the deal fell through."
¡Ultimo Extremo!
"One person can't possibly appear in two places every Monday."
¡Reina Manzana!
"And yet… here you are…"
¡Ultimo Extremo!
"Is today Monday? I'm not sure how calendars work anymore."
¡Reina Manzana!
"Well next week… round two of Lucha Bowl! There you will take on El Gran Diabolico. Any thoughts on that match?"
¡Ultimo Extremo!
"It'll be interesting. We are very different competitors. He's much taller than me. He's got muscles for days. If he locks me in that torture rack… I'm not confident in my chances of escaping. My plan is to avoid that at all costs. While he's big and bad… he's not Ultimo Extremo. He doesn't have a lifetime of pain fueling him to the end of this tournament. He doesn't have the heart of a warrior. Most importantly… he doesn't have the affection of the people. I can't imagine performing in front of nobody. Maybe Diabolico feels differently than me. He fights for horror… for pride… for the sake of the universe. I don't understand his motivations… but I respect his devotion to this craft."
¡Reina Manzana!
"What are your thoughts on Diabolico's smoking addiction?"
¡Ultimo Extremo!
"Odd question. It's his body. It's his choice."
¡Reina Manzana!
"He has already defeated El Gran Sol in impressive fashion. What are your chances of success next week?"
¡Ultimo Extremo!
"I came to Lucha Bowl to win. I came to honor my father. I came to be champion. There's no chance I leave with anything but the tournament finals to look forward to. For the second week in a row… Ultimo Extremo will be a main event winner."
He starts walking away and she follows.
¡Reina Manzana!
"Actually the main event match next week is between Hurican Mas Sexy and Ojo Loco."
¡Ultimo Extremo!
"Oh. That's good. It'll be nice to give the spotlight to some other promising stars. Both performed well tonight and they deserve to headline night two. Also… this is even better for me personally. Now… after I defeat Diabolico… I will be able to watch the main event to see who will have the privilege of losing to me in the finals of the tournament."
¡Reina Manzana!
"You seem supremely confident in winning the tournament."
¡Ultimo Extremo!
"Absolutely. Yes. While I'm in the twilight of my career. Winning this tournament is the perfect addition to my list of achievements. Imagine it… Ultimo Extremo… Lucha Bowl Champion."
¡Reina Manzana!
"Upon winning the championship… would you then be sticking around APW to defend it?"
¡Ultimo Extremo!
"Is that a thing that could happen? I guess I didn't look into it that far. Yeah… I would like to stick around APW. They have been incredibly welcoming to me. They all know who I am under the mask. They all know what I can bring to the table. I think I fit in well here. I think you'll be seeing a lot more of me around these parts."
They turn a corner and see Extremo's wife waiting by the locker room door. She applauds him and gives him a hug.
¡Reyna de Hielo!
"That… was… awesome!"
¡Ultimo Extremo!
"That was a lot harder than I thought. Princesa de Oro is very, very good. She reminded me of… well… you."
¡Reina Manzana!
"Reyna de Hielo, it's a pleasure to meet you. I've been a big fan for years. Have you been contacted about the open invite battle royal next week?"
¡Reyna de Hielo!
"I have it on my calendar. So do my brothers."
¡Ultimo Extremo!
"And my daughter."
¡Reina Manzana!
"Oh wow! You're really going all in with this Lucha Bowl concept!"
¡Ultimo Extremo!
"I believe in what Eli Beazley is doing. He's an incredibly bright, young star and this is all a great way to get eyes on APW during a brief break. He's the longest reigning Junior Heavyweight Champion in APW history. Setting up Lucha Bowl is right up his alley. He spent months working working with some of the best juniors in the world."
¡Reina Manzana!
"Speaking of the APW Junior Heavyweight Championship…"
¡Ultimo Extremo!
"Ugh. Giggles."
¡Reina Manzana!
"Yes, the current champion, Giggles."
¡Ultimo Extremo!
"He creeps me out. I don't hate clowns. I'm not afraid of clowns. Giggles is just… weird."
¡Reina Manzana!
"There is a rumor around the water cooler that the winner of Lucha Bowl will be challenged by Giggles."
¡Ultimo Extremo!
"Where is this water cooler? I'm thirsty."
¡Reyna de Hielo!
"I'd be more concerned with the winner of the battle royal."
She points at herself.
¡Ultimo Extremo!
"Whether it's Giggles… Princesa de Oro… El Gran Diabolico… or anyone. I will take on all challengers. My lucha roots are deep in the tradition of this sport and I plan on doing this until the wheels fall off."
¡Reina Manzana!
"What will you do if El Gran Diabolico is the one who causes your wheels to fall off?"
¡Ultimo Extremo!
"Unlikely… but if it happens… it happens. Next week… I'm going to give him everything I've got. It's all I can do, really. I'm in for the fight of my life… but I'm ready for whatever evil plan he's got in store for me. If it's some crazy stuff about his curse or vampires or whatever… I can handle that. I know a thing or two about los muertos vivientes."
The husband and wife share a look.
¡Ultimo Extremo!
"Next week… you can expect another cinco estrella match from Ultimo Extremo. El Gran Diabolico is in for a wild time. ¡Toda su base pertenece a Ultimo Extremo!"
