Vonn Richter and jtwalker like this

The camera fades in on the door of General Manager Irina Ivanova. There isn't much heard from the inside, until the handle clicks and the door begins to creak open.
Jaice Wilds:
Thank you again, Miss Ivanova. Always a pleasure to be home.
Wilds starts out the door, closing it carefully behind him. As he proceeds towards the parking lot, resident epic interviewer Dani Applegate turns the corner, almost colliding with Jaice. Dani starts to apologize, Wilds insisting it was his fault. As the two regain their composure, Dani requests an impromptu interview. Jaice happily obliges, following Ms Applegate to a cleared area with a pair of seats. She motions to his chair, Wilds nodding as he waits for Dani to sit first. She motions for a nearby crew member to start the camera, finding a microphone on a table nearby.
Dani Applegate:
Hey, folks! Dani Applegate here with a legend of the sport and a freshly renewed APW talent, Jaice Wilds. Jaice, welcome back to Alpha Pro! What have you been up to these last few months?
Wilds nods, taking a deep breath before he responds.
Jaice Wilds:
Thank you, Dani. I've spent the last couple of months re-evaluating my life; learning to prioritize my goals both here in APW and in my day-to-day goings. I've recently had a blast from my past raid my newest stomping grounds, and a mutual friend from an old crew gave me an enlightening speech. So I took a few months to step away, refocus and come back with purpose.
Dani nods, taking a moment to check her phone for notes. She looks up, sympathetic.
Dani Applegate:
Your returning battle was a losing effort as you teamed with Oblivion to face the Man Made Gods. That w...
Jaice Wilds:
False Gods.
Dani pauses, taken slightly. She turns her head ever so slightly.
Dani Applegate:
Beg pardon?
Wilds raises a hand in defense, a solemn grin crossing his face.
Jaice Wilds:
Apologies. The Faithless joined forces for the first time against the False Gods. And while we may not have gained the victory, I assure you we did not, in fact, "lose".
A look of intrigue begins to spread across the face of Dani Applegate, who seems genuinely interested in how Jaice sees things.
Dani Applegate:
That seems like a very optimistic way to look at it. Please, enlighten us to your mental train of - if you could.
Wilds nods.
Jaice Wilds:
Happily, Ms Applegate. You see, the Faithless came together as an answer. The False Gods followed my spotlight to Alpha Pro when they couldn't get anywhere in their own house. And when I succumbed to the mental stress of facing an old ally, I forfeited my right to stop the False Gods from attaining their position at the top of the Tag Team Division. But therein lies the key to unraveling those coattail-riding has-beens. Using their own sense of security against them.
Kingdom Come was meant to be a testing grounds for Franklin Patrick Venable. A means to determine if he was capable of making the big moves for the sake of his team. To verify whether he could survive on his own, or if- as I suspect- he needs Corey to make the power moves. But there was some form of clerical error in the paperwork, so the Faithless had to tear through their tandem earlier than planned.
Dani Applegate:
Right. But you failed to do what you set out to do… didn't you?
Wilds chuckles, shaking his head.
Jaice Wilds:
Did we?? Our goal- at least, once we realized plans had changed- was simply to put a dent in the armour that Black and Venable have donned. And when you look back at the tapes, that is exactly what we did. We took a loss in the record books for the sake of ensuring the False Gods that their time is, in fact, limited. The Faithless will earn another title opportunity soon enough; and when we do, it will be the end of the Man Made… "Gods".
Jaice seems almost repulsed by that last word, shaking his head and making a gagging motion. He regains his composure as Dani raises her brows, trying to remain professional as she pushes forward.
Dani Applegate:
I'm sure we all look forward to that, given the war we saw at Kingdom Come. But moving forward; you suffered a tough loss to Zaigon Carter last week, and head into next Metal against an undefeated Vonn Richter. What kind of mentality do you have going forward, with this new version of Jaice Wilds?
Wilds takes a moment, scratching his chin. He sits back, gathering his thoughts before cautiously responding.
Jaice Wilds:
I have to first apologize to Zaigon. The man put up a hell of a fight, and I found myself distracted with my continuing plans for the False Gods/Faithless rematch. But I have always prided myself on bringing the best out of my opposition. I promise you, Mr Carter, that will not have been our last venture together; and next time will see a much more focused attack from yours truly.
As far as Sir Richter is concerned, I've been keeping a close eye on him. May I first say, with all sincerity, how privileged this company is for having such an extraordinary talent signed to our ranks. The man is talented in the ring, he's a professional on the mic, and just an all-around top-of-the-line performer. When I asked Ms Ivanova to give me the best APW had to offer, I couldn't have dreamed for a more worthy opponent.
That said, my newfound mental status says it all. Much like my presence in this business, our collision was simply inevitable. A main event player like myself, reclaiming his place at the center of the spotlight; coming face-to-face with a warrior like Vonn Richter… that simply screams pay per view. But it isn't just your in-ring prowess that intrigues me, Vonn. Unlike certain stars who have avoided me like the Plague, you welcome all challengers. You have that desire to prove yourself; to test your mettle against anyone and everyone willing to step across the ring from you. You have a tenacity, a burning desire I've not seen in many a year.
Hell; it's almost like looking in a mirror.
Granted, you're twice my size. And while you have a healthy appetite for competition, you're also something of a jackass at times. Not a big deal; your actions in the ring allow you to back up the checks your ego writes. The only real problem you face is your inexperience: your short career thus far has not afforded you the luxury of learning to better yourself in the face of defeat.
Dani places her microphone on the desk between the two, realizing he's essentially turned this interview into a moment of shoot on his next foe. She sits back, taking in the moment as Wilds gathers his thoughts, a stroke of his nose just before he leans in.
Jaice Wilds:
And I get it, Vonn. Right now, you're sitting at home. Sipping something hard- mayhaps a Jack Daniels or Vodka Cranberry. You're wondering what you have to concern yourself over, being that your next challenge is a perennial mid-carder. But then, you start paying attention to what I'm saying. You realize that, somehow, this space filler seems to garner the attention of some top names in the business. And you wonder… why? Why is it that this nobody with a laughable record attracts the absolute best in the business??
The answer is simple, Vonn. I'm a self-perpetuating spotlight, constantly stealing the show. Whether I'm in the opening match or the main event, mine is the bout that has the critics talking for weeks on end. Whether it was some ridiculous "spot" that I pulled out of my ass, or the way my opponent had to all but end both of our lives to gain the notch in his 'w' column; I am consistently at the tip of every tongue in the wrestling business.
I'll be honest; I've been less than one hundred percent focused over the last few years. I'm the victim of a past that sees me living beyond my friends and peers and having to make due in new and different environments. I continue to measure myself against standards I helped set, while simultaneously trying to break those same standards. It's a vicious, self-destructive cycle that I've allowed to eat at me alive from the inside out. And it has cost me more than I'm ready to admit. But that is one of the hard truths I learned to make peace with over my hiatus; and I've found my center.
Dani makes a motion, the lights dimming a bit. The camera closes in on Jaice as he takes a breath, carefully choosing his next words.
Jaice Wilds:
Vonn Richter. I need you to understand this: I am not the man my film reel suggests. My focus has been tamed, my chakra realigned, and I now have a path for my future. And that path, unfortunately for you, cuts right through your undefeated streak this Monday. And when your streak meets my experience, there is only one plausible outcome.
An Inevitable win for me.
Dani makes a motion off-screen, which brings up the lights. The camera pans out, Jaice offering a hand to Ms Applegate. Dani shakes it, offering a quick word as he stands.
Dani Applegate:
Speaking of the top… now that Jason Ryan has garnered the World Title, do you have any plans to reignite that particular feud?
Jaice pauses, remaining on his feet. He scratches his head, shrugging.
Jaice Wilds:
I'll be honest; it is tempting. Seeing as how Jason stole the title, it's not difficult to place myself in a position to topple him and prove his insolence. However, I have a more noble task at hand before I even begin considering that particular route. So Mr Ryan can consider his position safe- from me- for the time being.
Wilds nods as he heads off, walking towards the parking deck. Dani turns to the camera, an interested grin.
Dani Applegate:
Thanks to the "Inevitable" Jaice Wilds for that interview. Ladies and gentlemen, tune in to Monday Night Metal for what should be an incredible series of matches!!
Dani signs off, the camera fading to black as Applegate walks off…
Jaice Wilds:
