Happy 104!
The scene opens up today's somewhere unexpected. But if you know Eli Beasley, then you know you can always expect the unexpected. Today Eli has brought us to a retirement home. You know... the place where you send your grandpa and grandma to live out the rest of their days. Here is a little known fact about Eli. Eli loves retirement homes, because as we know Eli loves being doted on! Grandmother's love to dote on Eli and he loves to butter em’ up with pleasantries. The shot goes to one inside the home. Eli is standing behind a big wooden podium with a Bingo spinner on it.
“N 41! N 41”
“BINGO!!!!”
“And we have a winner! Louise! You bring your beautiful self down and you pick out your prize.”
Eli extends his arm for the table next to his Bingo podium. On the table are several different pieces of Eli Beasley memorabilia. We have some signed pictures, t-shirts, edible underwear, and water bottles. All of which are emblazoned with Eli's name and face. Louise slowly makes her way to the table and selects and Eli Beasley water bottle.
“Nice choice, Louise! Folks she picked up one of the newest items to hit the shelves. An Eli Beasley water bottle! This 32.5 oz thing of beauty will keep you more hydrated than any other water bottle. That's the Eli Beasley guarantee!.
Eli winks and smiles to the crowd.
“Now folks, we will get to some more Bingo in a bit. I’ve got a lot of stuff up here waiting for a new home. But I say we have some cake. What say you?”
Eli uses his other arm to motion to a table to his left. On the table sits a three-tiered wedding style cake with a giant number 104 on top. Eli leaves his podium and walks over to the cake. he stops briefly to admire this creation. then Eli turns back towards the audience.
“I want to thank you all for coming out today! As some of the oldest members of Breezy Nation it is fitting that we celebrate such a Monumental occasion with you. we're here today to celebrate my 104 days as Junior heavyweight champion. This is a special day and I wanted to celebrate it with some of my most special fans. Fans that will understand this great accomplishment. See we're here to celebrate the longevity of thie reign and if there's anyone that knows a thing or two about longevity it's you guys. I must admit. I know that my 104 days don’t compare to your 80 or 90 years. But just like me, you've all seen your share of obstacles. I'm sure some of you remember the Civil War like it was yesterday!”
“That was 160 years ago!” a disgruntled man yells out from the audience. Eli shakes his head.
“And you’re still kicking? Wow! See that is the longevity that I’m talking about! I will do my best to make it to 160 days as champ for you! You da real champ! Here, have a tee.”
Eli throws a t-shirt in the man’s direction. He then turns back to the crowd.
“And as I was saying, you all have faced obstacles. I faced obstacles too! The thing we have in common and unites us is that we've been able to overcome our obstacles. We are warriors in games that are very different but truly the same. On any given day you might be fighting off dementia while I am fighting off another challenger for my title. I do my best the kick my opponents’ ass the same way that you kick erectile dysfunction ass! Amen! So it's fitting that I celebrate my 104th day as champ with Warriors like you. I’m honored and humbled to be in your presence. I'm sure that you have stories that would rival my own!”
Proud pause here from Eli.
“So let's eat this cake today in celebration of 104 days as Jr. Heavyweight Champion. Hopefully, we will all make it at least another 104 days! Now, let’s eat some cake! I was told by Karen over there that most of you can’t eat this much sugar so never fear I have brought veggies!!!”
A loud groan can be heard from the crowd. Eli shrugs his shoulders as he nods in the direction of a nurse standing off to the side as if saying ‘blame her.’ We continue to watch as Eli starts cutting into the cake. He begins passing out the cake and the veggies to the group as fade to black. When the screen comes back to life we are looking at a shot of Eli. He is outside the old folks’ home. He is leaning against a black car eating a piece of cake off a paper plate. The Jr. Heavyweight title sits on the trunk of the car. Eli takes the last two bites of cake and then puts the plat down and picks up the title and slings it over his shoulder.
“104 days... In some ways, it feels like just yesterday that I won the belt and in other ways, it feels like absolute ages! You see I have absolutely loved being champion. I love this company. I love the fans. I love that I get to be a part of something special like APW. The opportunities and conversations that I have had as a result of the belt have been incredible. But being Jr. Heavyweight Champ is hard. It’s not quite a 24/7 job to defend the belt but sometimes it feels like it. One week ago I was in the biggest battle I have had in APW. Tsukliko pushed me to the absolute limits at Kingdom Come. I had to really fight to walk out of the 02 Arena as champ. I’m still sporting the bumps and bruises from that one and tomorrow the belt is on the line again!”
Eli pauses as he shakes his head.
“Breeziacs, I don’t want you to think for a second that I am not ready to defend the belt. I will be ready. I’m just saying that I am going to need a little extra from you guys. I am going to need to feel the energy of the thousands and thousands of Breeziacs watching in the arena and the millions watching at home. You guys are going to make these bruised ribs that I got from a Tsukiko kick feel like nothing. I need you guys to show up and give me that little bit of EXTRA energy. I know I can count on you guys, and that’s why I know that defending the belt is not going to be a problem. I will extend the reign to 105 days and beyond.”
We watch as Eli picks up his cake plate and throws it in a nearby garbage can. He makes his way back to the car. He hops up and sits on the hood.
“And that brings me to the match itself. ‘Breezy’ Eli Beazley bs Defenestration Jones. Breezy Nation this one caught me off guard. I’m sure it did for you as well. It’s not like Defenestration has been around much as of late. In fact, I don’t even think I have seen her wrestle in person since I have been in APW. But I am not about to take her lightly. The minute I overlook her is the minute my reign ends at day 105! And who knows, maybe she has been off training with ancient pro wrestling samurai and is going to come back and wreak havoc on the roster.”
Eli laughs.
“Whether she comes out with some ring rust or some new and improved ninja skills I will be ready for her. Breeziacs, I pride myself on the fact that I take every match seriously. I never take a win for granted. I get in there and wrestle as if it’s for my career. Even though I’m not 100 percent going into the match tomorrow night I am going to get in there and give it my all. And if all goes right, Breezy Nation will wake up on Tuesday and celebrate 106 days!
“ So Defenstration Jones… Breeziacs I will see you at Metal Breezy Out!”
Fade to black.
