Dani Applegate stands ready with the impatient features of a disheveled Masuda Jubei only minutes after his surprise match against Tommy Fiend.
Dani: Masuda, you are now officially an Alpha again. What's going through your mind?
Jubei: I have only one thought... and it's not something simple like "vengeance" or "payback" if that's what you're looking for, Ms. Applegate.
He swipes down his sweaty jawline.
Jubei: You can call me whatever you want. I see them in their chairs, trying to even the playing field. Dreamers that think I am no longer relevant. That may be in the mind of a fool, but I am in the best shape of my entire career. I trained from bedridden to competition ready in under five months. The rest of that time filled the gaps. Although you wanted something more like a soundbite for the website, correct?
Dani shrugs.
Dani: Surely, you're not anywhere near where you'd like to be, Jubei. Although I would argue there's still plenty of buzz around your unannounced return at Gods of Wrestling. How do you hope capitalize on that?
Jubei: Forever the pragmatist... that's what I always liked about you, Ms. Applegate. Nothing slips through your fingers. It's a shame you've never tried to use your influence for something bigger. Something grander than "exclusive" interviewer.
Dani: I don't normally do these. I was informed, however, you would not speak to Troy Butler as part of your contract. Alas, here we stand.
Jubei: Because I don't waste my talent. Nor do I spend my energies on anything under our industry standard.
Dani: Back to my original question: How do you hope to use this buzz about your return?
Masuda gets closer to her with a blank expression.
Jubei: Ask the question you want to say. Stop listening to that earpiece! Now... ask me what's actually on your mind.
Dani Applegate takes a long, bated breath, squeezing the life out her microphone. Her frustrations bleed into the mic like a wavering feedback loop.
Dani: You must think this company still respects you. How can you be so confident when you're not in a contendership match while fighting off low tier talent like Tommy Fiend? How do you remain a cocky, irreverent disposition in APW beyond all logic that says you're lost in the memory of this company? What even are you, Masuda-sama?
Jubei: There's only one constant in Alpha Pro Wrestling, and soon, I will make my move.
He leaves with that classic Jubei smirk with Dani Applegate washed over in a moment of clarity and repressed rage.
