Bio: James Nightingale (formerly James Harrison) was a promising young British wrestler during the early 2000’s. However, despite successful excursions to the Far East and an incoming contract offer from ‘a large’ American promotion, James, discovering his girlfriend was expecting their first child, shocked the business by retiring.
In order to provide a stable income for his family, and longing for a need not to be an absent father, James enrolled in nursing school and progressed successfully through his new career, eventually becoming a Senior Charge Nurse.
Despite living a happy and comfortable life with his new wife and two children, James’s world was turned upside down during a shift in 2013. Following the death of a beloved patient, Robert, cracks started to form in James’s mental health. He would soon hear voices creeping into his thoughts, those of Florence Nightingale, the matriarch of modern nursing.
James accepted ‘The Matriarch’ as his mentor, and she continued to seduce him into the darkness. He would soon walk away from both his job and his young family to return to the world of Professional Wrestling. She guided him throughout the remainder of his training, as he travelled around the world, learning many different styles in the process.
Once his training was completed, he took the name ‘Nightingale’ as his own as a sign of respect towards his ‘Matriarch’. She bestowed on him the nickname ‘The Angel of Death’, a term used to describe serial killer nurses who were known to murder their patients, and made him the leader of ‘The Eradication Campaign’.
Travelling to America with both an extensive knowledge of various wrestling styles and of the anatomy of the human body, plus a lust for violence and chaos, James Nightingale proved he was a formidable foe for everyone he faced. After causing much bloodshed, Nightingale showed there was no low he wouldn’t sink too in order for his campaign to succeed.
However as time went on, Nightingale became wearier to The Matriarch’s commands, and soon had a moment of clarity, realising how far he had fallen and that he’d been used as a pawn for years. After regaining control of his own mental state, Nightingale cast aside The Matriarch, and set upon a road of recovery. Too ashamed to return to his family without atoning for his sins, Nightingale decided to continue The Eradication Campaign, however now identifying the weak as those who fight without honour in Alpha Pro Wrestling.
Pic Base: Cillian Murphy
In-Ring Style: Submission / Grappler / Striker / Hardcore
Nightingale is proficient in a variety of different wrestling styles. He is an outstanding grappler and submission artist having been trained in British ‘Catch Wrestling’ from a young age. Regular excursions to Japan broadened his knowledge, adding a ‘Strong Style’ approach to his arsenal. As his mental health deteriorated Nightingale introduced a Hardcore element to his game, not being afraid to introduce weapons to a match such as a chair or an axe. Now he takes much joy in ‘torturing’ his opponents in the ring, often with little regard for his own body.
Quotes / Statements:
”The Angel of Death is coming, pray for mercy!”
When addressing an opponent “[Insert name here], The Angel of Death has come for you, pray for mercy!”
”Eradicate the weak”
Attire: Black plain tights. Black boots, kick pads and knee pads. White taped right hand and both wrists, and a black right elbow pad. During his ring entrance a black trench coat. Black t-shirt with The Angel of Death written in blood-stained lettering across the chest. A black lower face mask.
Theme song: “For Whom The Bell Tolls” by Metallica
Entrance
The tolling of a bell sounds as the arena falls into darkness.
“For Whom The Bell Tolls” by Metallica continues it’s iconic introduction, upon each toll of the bell appears a flash of strobe lighting, revealing a figure in the darkness standing in the centre of the entrance stage, his appearance now revealed by the strobe lighting... it is James Nightingale.
Nightingale remains still on the stage, his face half-covered by his intimidating goth-style entrance mask, his eyes focused intensely on the ring.
Upon the 4th tolling of the bell, he slowly unbuttons his trench coat without breaking his intense gaze on the ring, revealing “The Angel of Death” in blood-stained writing across the chest of his T-shirt.
Following the 7th tolling of the bell, lighting returns to the arena, accompanied by “The Angel of Death” appearing on the AlphaTron, again in blood-stained writing. He cracks his neck from right to left, and finally begins his intimidating march to the ring, his intense eyes never breaking away from his destination.
He stops for a moment when he reaches the edge of the ring before continuing his determined walk around the outside, marking his territory for the war ahead whilst continuing not to break away his attention from the ring. He arrives at the apron closest to the hard camera, tilts his head and climbs up before finally pulling his intense gaze away from the ring.
Jessica Kaine: From The King’s City, England, weighing in at 200 pounds, this is “The Angel of Death”... James Nightingale!
As his introduction is being made he slowly removes his entrance mask and drops it to the floor. He bows his head to the ground, closing his eyes. He crosses his arms across his chest, clasping onto the opposite shoulders. He suddenly pulls his arms away from his shoulders in a downwards motion, signifying the removal of his wings, then throws his arms out wide, forming a crucifix shape whilst looking to the sky and unleashing a primal scream as his name is called. After clearing his lungs of his pent up rage he drops his head and arms back down.
He turns with purpose and climbs into the ring, marching over to the turnbuckle to his far-right and climbs up onto the second rope, again striking his signature pose whilst he looks intently to the sky above.
Nightingale jumps down and retreats to his corner, slowly removing his trench coat and T-shirt. He begins to loosen himself up, pulling violently on the ropes. He paces back and forth ready for the fight ahead.
