So, I spend a lot of time watching wrestling. Way too much time. Even the empty arena shows.. I'm crazy. So here's a random thread to just talk about wrestling.
My favorite company is New Japan. One night I couldn't sleep and saw that Jeff Jarrett's GFW thing was presenting Wrestlekingdom in english, and AJ Styles was on the card. I stayed up to watch it, it was fun enough and I was impressed, until I got to Nakamura vs Ibushi, and I was blown away, never turned back. You'd think having been so deep into wrestling for so long I would've figured that out already, but yeah. Obviously everyone loves Okada but besides him Naito, Ospreay, Juice Robinson are my favorites I guess... but the whole roster is good so it's hard to pick.
I'm kinda checked out on WWE. I watch but I'm not too emotionally invested at this point, even the guys I like. I don't know if it's just being burnt out or what. But I'm dumb and still watch every week. I don't catch NXT anymore, wish they'd just kept NXT how it was instead of trying to compete with AEW.
So yeah, AEW is my favorite American company, obviously I guess. Not just because Kenny Omega is there but it's kinda the perfect storm of things I love in wrestling. I started out as a WCW fan, so the WCW connections are nice for me. I used to get to a decent amount of Chikara and ROH shows so I'm happy to see some of those guys on the stage they're on. I like that they have a variety of different wrestling styles instead of WWE where every match is essentially the same. The humor is actually funny, I don't know, everything they do seems to connect, for the most part.
I spent a bunch of time as a diehard TNA fan but fell off around the timeperiod where they weren't running live shows and just editted together a bunch of old matches for a few months. I feel like they have a pretty decent product now but there's too much wrestling to follow, it's hard to find the time to add Impact to the list. Haven't followed ROH regularly since AEW started. I know everyone loves the NWA show but haven't watched that much either. There's so much wrestling!
I've been to Wrestlemania twice and those weekends were some of the most fun of my life and if you ever get the chance, take it. Not Wrestlemania itself but all of the indy shows surrounding the weekend and everything, it's a blast.
So yeah! What about you guys?
