“Dark Day” Is Approaching
[:15] Man Made Gods deliver Atomic Heat Beam to Teijin (cut clip to) Aaron trying to make the save but runs into a shoulder block from Corey Black as the sound of the referee’s hand hitting the mat Three (3) times is heard, followed by the ring bell sounding.
The video fades as another camera shot starts fading up to a “Previously Recorded” shot of Aaron Blade. He is sitting in a dimly lit stairwell somewhere in the hallows of the building. With his head bowed down and his arms resting on his knees, Aaron softly speaks.
“Teijin….Teijin….Teijin”, as if he was saying the name in a calculated but also disappointing demeanor. Aaron began to slowly lift up his head and look into the camera. Beginning to speak again, this time, he would yell his former tag team partners name.
“Teijin! (Pointing to the camera with his voice still raised), you pathetic excuse for a Japanese entertainer! There’s something you need to learn that’s universal, so even they know this in Japan. What makes a great tag team is when you can work together no matter who your partner is. It was clear you didn’t want to be in that match. To make a reluctant tag shows that you’re unsure. Were you scared of facing gods? If that’s the case, you should’ve said something. I wouldn’t have been mad, but you proved who you truly are. What you did, that’s the biggest thing that separates boys and men and you showed me and everyone, that you were still that little Japanese boy that rode coattails to get in the spotlight.
Yeah, you went on and tried to fight the rest of the match so I gave you your chance to shine. What did I see? I saw you get your ass handed to you and I sat back and watched. I wanted to see what you had and when it came time for you to have enough, you gave me a look like you could handle it going on with the match. But when you wanted to show off and not tag me in, that showed me that you wanted the attention on yourself. So watching you getting your ass handed to you put a smile on my face. (He slightly laughs). Fuck yeah it did. But I knew that there was more at stake, so I came in hot and what did I find? I see you getting double-teamed and when I did come to your rescue, I was too late. I should rephrase that. I was stopped by a shoulder block but I also took down Corey (Black). So does that tell you how hard he was hit? His block might’ve slowed me down but I still took him out.
But the moment I hit him, that’s when the referee was counting your shoulders to the mat. So imagine how I felt. Imagine how I feel now. Imagine my anger, my frustration, my mentality right now. The expression of spitting nails is Kindergarten compared to what I’m feeling inside. Why am I feeling this? Remember when I told you that I would take this team to the top and all you had to do was sit back and watch? You didn’t like the idea or the view, so you wanted to know what it was like having the eyes on you, didn’t you? Don’t worry, you’re going to have eyes on you but it’s not everyone looking at what you’re doing, it’s going to be everyone watching what happens to you. They all are going to be watching in shock as I rip your flesh off of your body. Everyone will be watching as I slice you from ear to ear and tear your dreams from you because….that’s what you did to me! See, here’s the thing Matsuda, the only thing you’ve done this entire time is come up with a stupid team name. A name that is a rip-off of the name of a Rap label and the fact that you drink energy drinks. I knew it was stupid but I let you have that. Why? Because I knew, in the end, I would get us to the show. I would get us to BattleCade. Looks like you’re going to need to lay off those energy drinks because, well, we saw what happened didn’t we?
The real straight truth fact was that we were on our way and then…(dramatic pause)...you had an idea. You had a plan of your own. Was it when you were back in catering looking at a big bowl of Rice and saw a small piece or grain of Rice and said, wow, we have something in common? (For those of you who don't get the reference, watch Roddy Piper/Andre The Giant promo) [0:40]. This is why the first match we had as a team, I won it. I wasn’t going to let you get the win because you couldn’t get it done. You’re the Marty Jannetty of this team. I didn’t win that match for you or us or because it was the first match in this tournament, but because it happened to be a promise. I said I was going to do it and I did. Now it’s time for another promise and I’m going to tell you”. (Inching closer so he is sitting on the edge of the step, he looks into the camera with a serious look). “I promise you Masuda Jubei is disgraced. You didn’t show toughness but instead you made Bad Boy Energy suffer the fate of Jubei. Counseling didn’t help you, you didn’t turn to the light but instead had your light turned out by Man Made Gods”.
Aaron took a deep breath because he had wasted enough of it on his former tag team partner. So the next objective on his agenda would be a match later in the night. A Singles match against Lex Collins. Now Lex is one-half of the tag team with The Architects with Damon Warrens, but more importantly, he is also the current APW North American Heavyweight Champion. Looking at the line-up and seeing that his next match is listed as Number Sixth (6th), how convenient that the number happens to be his lucky number, just missing that number two more times. And not just that but it was before the tag match of the team that eliminated him and his former tag team partner, from the Tag Team Tournament. But he had already talked about that.
Some would call the match a “mid-card” or a “filler” match, as it will happen between the opening and closing match. But Aaron looks at it another way. Here’s what I mean. When you have a match between the opening and ending of a show, the first show sets the tone for the rest of the night. It’s up to the matches between there to keep that tone going. It’s a place where some like to be and it’s a place where some don’t like to be. It’s all about keeping the show moving. When you’re placed in the middle of the show, you have that ability to control the crowd. As an entertainer, you always want to stand out. You want to make your match be the one that the crowd remembers. Your mind is on the match before yours and thinking of how you can top that. You look to the match after yours and wonder if they can top your match, but what can you do in your match to top what has just been done? What does that mean for Aaron and Lex? How can their match top the last match? When you represent The Bloodline, you represent greatness and well, Eli Beazley and Alex Scott, are sure to be great and I’m not just saying that because Eli is part of The Bloodline. When your last match was the main event and here you are in the middle of the card, it’s a psychological mind fuck. You have to adapt to the new surroundings and I’m not talking about physically in the ring. There’s a different mentality when you’re in a certain spot on the card but that’s enough about other matches.
Up until now, Aaron has had only one shot at a championship. Aside from the Tag Title Tournament, because that wasn’t an actual “title match”, Aaron’s only chance at a championship came in the form of the Hardcore/HorrorKore champion. Even that wasn’t a straight one-on-one match, but was a match for a title. That included his now Bloodline teammate, Jason, but I’m getting off track. Back to tonight. This non-title match against Lex Luger, no, I mean Lex Luther. No, sorry again, Phil Collins. Damnit! Lex Collins, there we go, it’s basically a saving grace for him because his North American Championship is safe….for now. You’ve been watching professional wrestling for years and did you forget how this works? If Aaron wins the match, this sets him up for a future North American Championship match. So that’s in the head of Aaron as he’s sitting around….wait sorry. You thought he was still in the stairwell? No, he’s standing backstage with Troy Butler cutting a promo on his upcoming match against Lex Collins.
{Location: Metal promo area}
Read this how you want but I found it funny in the accent of Steve Irwin. Why? I don’t know how Troy sounds. But Troy is standing with a microphone in his hand in front of a camera with Aaron standing next to him as Troy builds up the match between Aaron and Lex.
[Butler] “Tonight, Aaron, you will be facing the North American Champion and coming off the heels of this Tag Title Tournament…” (Aaron lifts his hand to stop Troy from speaking).
“Stop right there. Troy, first off. Has anyone told you that your name is the same as a movie I could’ve sworn that you starred in? It wasn’t a good movie and you’re not a good interviewer so I guess it works for you. So shut and just do your job. Hold that microphone here. The tournament is done and you’re just like everybody else, wanting to know where my mind is at. It seems that everyone's mind is on what happened last week. You live in the past. Last week, Bad Boy Energy bowed a knee to the gods. Bad Boy Energy couldn’t do what they said they’d do. Bad Boy Energy this and Bad Boy Energy that but no, Bad Boy Energy didn’t do a damn thing. Teijin fell and it’s as simple as that. It seems like since I’ve been here, there’s been a dark cloud over my head and that’s fine with me. I’ve said in my head that there is a dark day approaching and that day is here. Right now, there’s some things going on with a virus and I’m telling you right now that just like the virus that’s taking over, The Bloodline is going to do the same here in APW. So take a good look at me now and ask yourself is my mind right? Am I focused on what Teijin did or am I focused on tonight’s match with Lex Collins? I’ll answer you like this. For those who think I should take my frustrations out on Lex and visualize that he is Teijin, sure, go ahead and think that. The ones who think that when I go out there and brutalize Lex because of who he is, think that too. This match is simple. I’m not here to think about the past but I’m here about business. Stepping in that ring, it’s all business. Troy, I’m helping you out by mentioning your name. Your job is to hold a microphone and shut up and let others talk so consider myself doing you a favor. But here’s another champion I step in the ring with but take the belt out of the picture, he’s just another step I have to take to get to where I want.
So the question that pops into your head is what do I want. Do I want to send a message to Teijin for what he did? Do I want to beat Lex so bad that he’s vulnerable when he defends his North American championship? Do I want to be APW North American Champion? Do I want to represent The Bloodline in this match and prove our dominance here in APW? To answer all of those questions, it’s as simple as a yes. But Lex isn’t Teijin and everyone knows Teijin isn’t Lex or let’s face it, he’d have a title other than being called a failure. Tonight when I face Lex, he’s a champion and having faced a champion, I know what has to be done. And everyone watching will see what needs to be done and exactly what I am capable of. It’ll be you, Teijin, who will realize where you went wrong and it will be you APW that will realize that The Bloodline isn’t just a group of men who are here to take over, but we are here to prove that this business is in our blood and we will do anything necessary to make sure that our prophecy is fulfilled. Believe that tonight sparks a new era in APW history. Believe the prophecy, believe The Bloodline for your remission of your sins will bring upon you great pain. Tonight, my prophecy begins with you Lex Collins. (Closing his eyes, his eyelids begin to flutter before opening his eyes). Your suffering will bring joy to The Bloodline. Your sacrifice will be your punishment. Your torture shall be grueling and your pain will be everlasting.
As the blood flows through your body, it shall be witnessed to all that your blood shall be shed and should flow for all to see. Prepare yourself, for your Dark Day is approaching. The time is at hand where you shall become a broken vessel in the hands of one who gives and takes away. My name is Aaron and I am the servant of one mightier than me. Your inevitable waits no more”.
Closing his eyes again, Aaron reaches forward and palms the camera lens as he slowly pushes the camera down to the floor. With his feet now seen walking away, the camera slowly fades to a Black screen and shuts off. Walking to the locker room of The Bloodline, he walks inside to grab his skateboard that was leaning against the wall. As he touches the skateboard, Aaron gets a feeling in his stomach and he then takes a seat on a metal folding chair. Tilting his head forward, Aaron has a thought in his head and he sits for a few minutes. Commotion that would normally be heard in the hallway of personnel walking by, was as if everything was silent. Was it a form of meditation? Was it something else taking over his body as he had just witnessed during his earlier promo? Whatever it was, it wasn’t a feeling he had felt before and with no one around from The Bloodline, he couldn’t tell them.
Slowly standing to his feet, Aaron grabbed his skateboard and a refreshing feeling came over him as a smirk would come across his face. Not really knowing what it was, he would go on his normal routine of setting down his skateboard and skating through the hallway towards the entrance curtain. Through the hallway though, as the sounds of the current match is happening inside the arena, the deafening sounds of the electric crowd rumblings echoed backstage. Now with thoughts in his head on what awaits his opponent, Aaron couldn’t wait for everyone to witness this new sick, twisted, perverse, vile and just Horror type Gore mentality that he has been wanting to become.
You may ask yourself, why now, but look at when he entered. His debut was just before a new talent and this business is all about who is new and fresh. When he lost his debut, there was no time to think of the bitterness or time to build up anger because someone had already got into his head. That’s when everything happened with his first title match but again, he didn’t have the time to do anything because it all happened quickly. So after that, Aaron was tossed into a tournament and while he did good, his partner let his ego get bigger than the team. So that started to build up that anger again. When someone noticed that anger and knew of what he was capable of, it was The Bloodline who knew they wanted that to be part of what they were doing. And now that Aaron has had some time to breath, The Bloodline has opened up Pandora’s box in the mind of Aaron to now be unleashed on APW.
As he steps over to a stand-up cooler and grabs himself a bottle of water, he glances down at the outside of the cooler. Its wrapped logo is an energy drink logo and he snickers under his breath, his final thought..."Teijin".
