Bio:
Wrestling is basically all Corey Black knows. He began training at age 17, debuted at age 18, and hasn't looked back ever since. His home life wasn't great. It never is for professional wrestlers, is it? After witnessing the death of his brother and sister at the hands of his father at a very young age, it is believed 'Creeping Death' came out for the very first time, and when Corey came back to, a baseball bat had been swung at his father's head. A lot. Self defense was the judgement, all things considered. Corey then lived with his mother, who remarried. His step-father wasn't that great of character either, forcing Corey to use the name "James Volz," his own last name and a pretend first name, probably to hide Corey's past. A car accident, a loss of a mother, and a directionless boy wandered into a pro wrestling school in Des Moines, Iowa. Corey's trainer, 'The Crow,' witnessed 'Creeping Death' first hand in the ring one day, and gave the rage a face in the form of a white base and black circles around the eyes, then four black lines over the mouth. Corey was a standout, committing his entire waking life to training.
Corey Black had become THE name in WCF history. His legendary career is widely documented, and he's not afraid to put people in their place, either with words or Burning Hammers. During 2012, Corey Black worked hard to create a weapon out of his elbow, and he has succeeded in this mission. Through 2013, Creeping Death manifested once again and took over, the more violent version of Corey Black reared its head and wrecked house.
Corey Black's elbow had been the target of an attack, requiring major reconstruction surgery. The elbow, which is Corey's main weapon, is now mostly made of metal.
A couple groups are associated with Corey Black, Pantheon and Man Made Gods. He holds those names close to his heart.
Corey successfully embarked on his 'WCF retirement tour' heading toward One 2017.
In early-mid 2018, Corey Black assumed ownership of WCF.
On January 7th at One 2019, Corey suffered a brutal assault on his right eye in a match with Wade Moor. As a result, he wore a golden plate over his right eye. He now seems to have recovered from his injury, presumably with a metal plate in his head acting as an orbital bone now as well.
Since debuting in Action Wrestling, Corey Black has rejuvenated his career - not that it was ever really in need, but he hadn't been a full time pro wrestler in quite a while. A successful tag team in the Man Made Gods with Frank Patrick Venable, a lengthy Hardcore Title reign and the overhaul of one Kaiju Collins - Corey seems perched and ready to once again dominate at the top of the card.
Subsection: Creeping Death
Once considered simply the persona of Corey Black, it was five powerbombs from Odin Balfore that forced Corey to put the facepaint and 'extreme' style away. Creeping Death was no more, Corey Black emerged. However, it isn't that simple. See, Creeping Death isn't just facepaint and black clothes. Corey Black claims there is an internal struggle to keep Creeping Death away from the forefront. In a very rare scenario, Corey will indeed step back, and once Creeping Death comes out, it is a whole new ballgame. The viciousness picks up. Brutal weapons are preferred. When Creeping Death first started to attempt to take over, it was a horror movie every day of Corey's life. Things would move, fly across the room, and overall just be terrible.
Recently, Creeping Death broke free from the place it dwelled and waged war upon the world as we know it. It has been taken from Corey Black's body, and relocated within another host - Kevin Bishop.

Subsection: Shinji Kiryu
The story of Shinji Kiryu is a complicated one. While on excursion to Japan, the Japanese people needed a hero of their own - so Corey Black donned a mask and body suit of red, black and gray to wrestle under an assumed name. It was wildly successful, and 'The Ghost of Tokyo' is still talked about to this day.

Subsection: Frost
Frost was a student at the school in Iowa. He would go off to mainly compete in Japan, but Corey would use his name, mask, and gimmick to hide his own in WCF. This angered Frost, and with the help of Corey's ex-girlfriend, Frost would make his way to WCF to battle Corey for the pride of the mask and gimmick bestowed upon him by 'The Crow' John Drok, the man who ran the training facility. Frost and Corey both view the name and look a gift, and for Corey to use Frost's was a sin against their trainer and foundation.

Subsection: Nikki Venus
The former overseer of Global Wrestling Coalition, a 'sister fed' to WCF, Nikki ended up coming to WCF with Corey Black once GWC closed down. Once Corey's girlfriend, Nikki was pushed away by Creeping Death. She is a central force within Corey's life, being the one person in his life that's been around for an extended period of time and not stabbed him in the back. Nikki Venus is Corey Black's most trusted ally. She seems to be the key to unleashing Creeping Death upon the world.
Recently she has been by the side of WALTER, her intentions there.. uncertain.

Subsection: Taylor Swift
What is there to really say? It started as a meme, then... well... WCF and Corey Black caught the eye of Swift at a charity event, and it seemed like Corey was bound to be her next hit single. She's appeared at XIII as ring announcer, but the relationship between the two seems to be successfully kept under wraps. Is it business? Is it romantic? Does it even exist? Who knows.

Subsection: The Burning Hammer Dojo
Located in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota - The Burning Hammer Dojo is the premier training facility not only in North America but on the planet as a whole. Boasting multiple rings and guest trainers bi-weekly, Corey's facility should be the destination for any up-and-coming wrestler who wants to learn from the very best.

Corey is considered one of the best-rounded wrestlers in the company. 20+ years of experience. He has trained in Mexico, Canada and Japan, taking the best of each individual style and creating his own all-encompassing style, sort of like what Bruce Lee did with Jeet Kune Do. This is explained more under "Style."
Attire:
Corey's wrestling attire consists of royal purple bicycle type short tights, adorned with a white stylized skull on the front wearing a spiked golden crown. White boots, royal purple kickpads, golden trim. Royal purple knee and elbow pads, white wrist/hand tape, golden eye patch over his right eye with black rune designs. Sometimes he'll wear a variant of this attire with royal blue instead of purple, and then another with no flair, just black. Flat black everything.
Theme song:
"On the Top" by Jinjer
Pic Base:
...David Finlay?! Mark Haskins?! In that realm.
The first thing people would notice about Corey Black is his hair and beard. Middle/long stringy dark brown to black hair to his shoulders, super long (like almost past sternum) full beard braided down the middle. If he was bigger, he'd be cast in the TV show Vikings. He has decent to amazing muscle tone. He has two piercings; one in his left eyebrow with a spike, and the right side of his lower lip with a hoop. CD's left arm is a full sleeve of tattoos, featuring skulls, spider webs, pumpkins, monsters like vampires, werewolves and zombies. Corey's chest is adorned with a tattoo as well, Old Norse style knotwork designs. This same motif is on his back and right arm as well. Corey's back tattoo depicts a viking warrior with a bloody axe and the head of a monstrous being. Nearly all of Corey's upper body is tattooed, only his stomach is not. CD has a scar of a row horizontal lines on the right side of his body on his ribcage from a weed whacker many years ago.
Entrance:
"On the Top" by Jinjer hits the PA as the lights drop and purple lights illuminate the arena. A few moments later Corey Black emerges from the backstage area wearing a worn looking black leather vest with "ALL HAIL" - a skull with a crown - and "THE LAST KING" on the back of it, also wearing the Action Wrestling Hardcore Championship. The crowd cheers (some boo) along with great (less) appreciation as Corey makes his way to the ring, little interaction with anyone, just focused on the squared circle. Black slides into the ring and lifts his right elbow to the sky as most of the crowd loses their mind. Corey drops his vest and title to the floor and simply waits in the corner, bouncing back and forth, anticipating the coming battle.
Basic moves:
Strikes: Elbow strikes (to head, face, chest, knees, legs, arms etc), knee strikes (same), most kicks (super, roundhouse, drop, front, side, spinning, heel, big boot, Yakuza Kick etc), discus clothesline, slaps - Corey doesn't really punch
Grapples: Suplexes (t-bone, gargoyle, vertical, exploder, german, half nelson, tiger, dragon etc), DDTs (normal, jumping, running, Asai etc), Slams (body, side, spike uranage, STO, etc), Neckbreakers (sitdown, spinning, Stunner, Cutter), Bombs (normal, sitout, kneeling, crucifix etc)
Running: Yakuza Kick, Busaiku Knee Strike, Dropkick, Pump kick Clotheslines (normal, flip, leaping etc), spear, leaping double stomp (CD will either run at or catch a running opponent in the chest/head with both feet and forcefully stomp them down to the mat. Requires CD to leap high and bring his knees up to get the kind of height needed)
Aerial: Elbow drop, leg drop, moonsault, springboard variations (from middle rope, top rope, outside to top to inside, etc) Splashes (normal, twisting, 360, shooting star) Sentons (back, flip), Double Stomp (normal, moonsault to, front flip to)
Corner: Tornado DDT, running Yakuza Kick, running dropkick, middle/top rope versions of other moves listed
Submission: Dragon Sleeper, Triangle Choke, Single Leg Boston Crab, Cross Arm Breaker
Signature move(s):
Brainbuster, Fisherman Brainbuster, Backdrop Driver, Lariat (running, spinning, charged from standing base), Reverse Rana, Superkick, Falcon Arrow, Orange Crush Bomb, Death Valley Driver, Van Daminator/Terminator, Kudome Valentine (Vertebreaker), Shining Wizard, Strong Style Knee Strike (BomaYe/Kinshasa/V-Trigger type of strike), Penalty Kick (running punt type kick to the head/chest of a seated opponent), Frog Splash, 450 Splash, Shooting Star Press
"Taking The King's Ransom" - Corey will pick the opponent up onto his shoulder and clutch their head behind his back in an Air Raid Crash/White Noise/Belly to Back Piledriver hold. From here, he'll pull their head forward and drop to one knee, dropping the opponent neck/head first onto his leg while being held upside down. Similar to Okada's knee drop Air Raid Crash.
CD takes the opponent and applies a front face lock. He then front flips over the opponent in a move resembling a Northern Lights Suplex by his opponent, but instead CD delvers a front flip DDT. Depending on the momentum he gets while jumping, the opponent will either spike ridiculously awkward or backflip over and get dominated. Sometimes this move is held after the flip, Corey wraps his legs around the opponent and holds them in a Guillotine Choke, this variation is called "The Oxygen Destroyer."
"The Flight of Rodan" - With the opponent laying on the mat, Corey runs toward the ropes and leaps up to the middle rope like he was going for a Lionsault. Instead, he springs backward while rotating forward, executing a springboard imploding 450 Splash to the opponent.
"Kiryu Cutter" - A variation on The Flight of Rodan, Corey will spring off the middle rope and fly backward while rotating forward in an imploding flip - only this is to a standing opponent. As he comes back he clutches the head of the opponent and executes a Cutter/RKO.
Finishers:
"For Victory or Death" - Repeated elbow strikes to the side of the opponent’s head while holding the opponent in a modified seated abdominal stretch. Either KO or submission.
"The Royal Beheading" - Corey maneuvers the opponent to a position where they are on one knee, "bent knee before the king" if you will, usually done with a superkick to the knee. From here Corey will charge in, be it a couple steps or bouncing off the ropes, coming in at the rear of the opponent with a swinging elbow strike to the back of their head. Absolutely devastating move.
Super Finishers:
Phoenix Splash
Burning Hammer
(and the "Ten Ton Hammer" - a variant of the Burning Hammer where Corey pumphandles one arm and half nelsons the other before executing the deathmove. This variation has never been used in Action Wrestling and may never will be unless called upon for dire circumstances.)
