Character Name: Amirah Isma'il Al-Amin
Ring Name: Amirah Al-Amin
Nickname: "The Golden Eagle", "The Lioness of San Diego"
Hometown: San Diego, CA
Height: 5'10
Weight: 137 lbs
Alignment: A little all over the place (I hesitate to just say 'tweener' because it's a little more complicated than that, but yeah effectively a tweener).
In-Ring Style: A primarily counter-based fighter with stunning agility and flexibility, it's not hard to get the impression that Amirah spends most of her time in-ring playing with her food, as it were.
Bio: The first-born daughter of Palestinian immigrants, Amirah Al-Amin grew up often unable to reconcile her ethnic and cultural identity with the broader mainstream 'American' culture her parents wanted her to assimilate into. A 'performer' (see: messy bitch who lives for drama) from a young age, Amirah's first taste of notoriety came as a teenager, when she made a series of YouTube videos portraying a caricature of the decidedly negative stereotypes of Arabs in Western media, a shtick she would later translate to a few stand-up sets.
Drawn to the world of professional wrestling while rehabbing the knee injury that'd ultimately end her collegiate basketball career, Amirah once again revived the character, first as a manager and later as an active competitor. However, the greater visibility opened her up for more criticism, both from those who felt her habit of simply playing into lazy stereotypes just further perpetuated them, and from those who took everything she did at face value. After a series of demoralizing events, and facing the biggest break of her career, she decided to retire the character in an attempt to be taken seriously. But in more than a few eyes, it might be too little, too late.
Attire: Strappy black leather top, red vinyl tights, and green calf-high boots.
Theme song: of Montreal — We Will Commit Wolf Murder
Pic Base: Boshra Dastournezhad
Entrance:
The spacey, psychedelic opening of "We Will Commit Wolf Murder" by of Montreal hits the PA accompanied by a wave of strobe lights flashing bright pastel colors. The house lights die as the opening lyrics kick in:
"Something's terrorized my psyche to get even
Lately you're the only human I believe in"
And just like that, the lights come back on and Amirah Al-Amin emerges from the back, swaying erratically to the music as she makes her way down the ramp, singing along to her own entrance music like a dweeb.
Jessica Kaine: And making her way to the ring, from San Diego, California! Weighing in tonight at 137 pounds, Amirah Al-Amin!
The mention of her name draws a mixed reaction punctuated by a couple loud jeers, which she brushes aside as she ascends the ring steps, stepping between the ropes and settling into her corner.
Favorite moves:
Arm Drag
Sunset Flip
Russian Leg Sweep
Various surprise pins (School Boy, Small Package, etc.)
Falling into a back bridge to duck a lariat/back handspring frankensteiner
