FPV RP #2 - A Win for a Win
After coming up short in my conquest for the APW World Title, a short break was much needed. I didn't want to intrude on Smitty and his victory, he put on a hell of a fight and deserves that World Title more than anyone on the roster. I can say that enough confidence to believe it.
At the same time, one Lucy Sixx is making her intentions for Jones' World title abundantly clear. Though her reasons for wanting it are clear, her words have been thrown back and used against her, something I planned to do with my upcoming interview with Troy Butler.
And me? Well, it's not all been doom and gloom in Camp FPV. So far 2020 has been a year of nothing but success for myself in Action Wrestling. I regained the AW World Title in a blistering triple threat against two monsters of the business in Odin Balfore and Walter, and then two weeks later successfully defended my title against Estrella Luiz. In regards to APW, my partner Corey Black and I threw our names into the upcoming Tag Team tournament, and we both intend to blow the competition out of the water in that regard.
But this week on Metal, I find myself in an interesting spot in the main event. The World Champion of another promotion, sandwiched between the top two stars of APW, Lucy and Smitty. It's an interesting situation, to be sure, but it's one that I'm more than ready for.
With Metal looming in closer and closer, I had booked time for another interview with Mr. Troy Butler in time to promote the match. We met up at the arena, just as we had in that first, awkward meeting between us. Thankfully our meeting this time was much more smooth, as I met him right on time. He was dressed in his usual suit, APW pin attached to his lapel, while I was in my ring gear/hoodie entrance combo with one notable inclusion, the AW World Title slung over my shoulder. He was all smiles when he saw me. To his side was a cameraman wearing an APW polo, primed and ready to begin recording when given the word.

Troy: There he is, the man of the hour! Welcome back, how was the trip?
FPV: Smooth, real smooth. Great to be back Troy, especially with gold on me.
Troy: I bet it is. I bet it would have been even sweeter with both World titles, though?
FPV: It would have been, alas it wasn't meant to be. Your champ Smitty, he's one of the best I've ever come across. There's a reason that ole' Bonnie Blue was so complimentary to him on twitter.
Troy: Oh trust me, it's very hard to be on her good side. I'm surprised she tolerates you enough to let you use her tech for travel purposes.
FPV: It wasn't an easy sell, I'll tell you that much. Anyways, let's get this interview going. I'm ready whenever you are.
Troy nodded and looked to his cameraman.
Troy: Aight, let's get this show on the road.
The camera blipped on, and we were recording. Troy's demeanor went from casual to professional, a hallmark of all of wrestling's beleaguered interviewers throughout the ages.
Troy: Troy Butler here with AW World Champion Frank Patrick Venable. Frank, first thing's first congrats on the win, do you think that will translate to success and momentum in APW?
FPV: Oh I'm sure of it. This belt, like the fans of AW, gives me a strength most people can never comprehend, and although I'm away from the people of AW every time I step in an APW ring, with this belt over my shoulder I think I'll be just fine Troy.
Troy: You're scheduled for the main event of Monday Night MEtla this week, taking on Lucy Sixx and Smith Jones, walk us through your thoughts on that bout.
FPV: Well first thing's firsst Troy, can I just say that I consider myself a lucky individual in APW. After losing in the main event of 2020 Ways to Die I was expecting to not be thrust in the main event scene for quite some time, that I'd have to once again earn my way to the top spot. Yet here I am, in the biggest Metal main event since the Royal Rumble, and I'm sharing the ring with the top two champions in this promotion. I dunno if that's a sign that Irina just really likes me for some reason, but I'll take it.
Smith, I'll say this right now. You're a hell of a competitor, that much is undeniable. You and I may disagree on some things, like the relationship between AW and APW, but you are such an incredible in-ring competitor that I'm willing to look past that and accept for you for what you've become, and that is the APW World Champion. The first man to hold the belt twice, that's a real nice little accolade for you there. i'm only the second man to hold the AW belt twice, so I suppose we're a part of an elite fraternity of wrestlers that includes only us and Roy Speede.
We put on a hell of a match in Death Valley, Smith, perhaps the best main event in APW history. I did everything I could to prepare for that fight, hype myself up and all that jazz. I honestly walked in to 2020 Ways To Die thinking I would be a double world champion. But I didn't, because of you. You had me scouted, you knew my game and you played me as well as any competitor in the ring today can play me. You beat me, which is something that rarely happens these days, and for that Smith, you've earned a level of respect I give to only a few people in this industry.
But that kind of respect, under those circumstances, comes at a bit of a cost. You've beaten me, and now more than ever, I'm hungry. Hungry for revenge. Now I'm always a hungry competitor. Hungry for wins, hungry for titles, hungry for support from the fans, but now I'm starving for something a little bit more personal than all of that. I'm looking to avenge that loss on my record with a win over you. An eye for and eye, a win for a win.
Smitty, I'm at the stage in my career where my entire being is based around being the best of the best. That's what I am in Action Wrestling right now. That roster is STACKED with talent from top to bottom, with so many of those wrestlers at any point having potential to be World Champion. But they're not, I am. I am because I am the best wrestler in that company. No one in AW can say with certainty that they've given me a pinfall loss that I haven't at one point avenged.
In APW? I'm not the best wrestler. I'm not the best, because you exist.
From now until I get that win over you, I'm gonna be hyperfocused on you and everything that you do, because the goal of my career is to be the best. I'm not even taking the title into this whole equation. I just want that win over you so that at the very least I can know that we are equals, Smitty. And this match? This match just might be the way to get that win.
Troy: Now that's all well and good Frank, but what about Lucy Sixx, the current APW North American champion?
FPV: Ah yes, Lucy Sixx. You know Troy, you ever noticed that anyone who lives the rock lifestyle, not just wrestlers with rock and metal history but just rockers in general always seem to have Sixx in their name. Look, I get it, I love me some Motley Crue just as much as the next person, but c'mon y'all, be a bit more creative than that. Especially with the look that you're going for, you can do much better.
As for you yourself Lucy, I must give you some props all the same as Smitty. You and young Cecilia did exactly what you said the Two-Tone Mafia would do and you won a title each. That's a kind of dedication to sticking to your goals that I like to see in people. But you're not just content with letting that be it, are you? No Lucy, you want something a bit bigger. You've got aspirations that go beyond just the North American title. No, you want the big one. You want the World Title.
I can't exactly say I blame you. The World Title is what most wrestler's ought to be aspiring towards. But it's the way that you're goin about this, the words your using to get your point across that bother me. See Lucy, you and I use diametrically opposite language when talking about the current champion. I gave him the respect that a man of that caliber deserves because god knows he's earned it. You, on the other hand? You disparage him at every opportunity you get. Calling him a "yellow bellied ass" Calling him nothing, saying he can't outshine you, going so far as to call him a FAILURE...
Lucy, did you even fucking WATCH the same pay per view that I did?! Did you not watch the main event?! Did you just peace out after your match because your services were no longer needed? Because if so, 1. that's lazy and 2. that's irresponsible as hell. Either way it's clear you don't know the world champion that you're challenging so brazenly. You call him a failure, despite him being the absolute most successful member of the APW roster. The only two time World Champion, me a multi time World Champ in AW and WCF...shit, you're the least successful wrestler in this match.
As the kids these days say...big oof.
Lucy, you've got the shot in the palm of your hands, and all you have to do to make it official...is to give up your North American title. Yet why would you even bother? Honestly, with how you dissed Smitty, with how hard you assassinated his character, why even bother with his title? I mean, after all, if he's such a loser, wouldn't that make his title worth jack? Why even bother trying to win it, after all, you've got your own title to worry about defending, you shouldn't give it up if you feel that way.
Oh who am I kidding, you're going to give up your title and challenge for the world title because your words are as empty as your values, just vessels to get what you want without making any sense. Have fun wasting your time when you lose, Lucy.
You wanna know how I know you're going to lose? Because even with that title on you, you aren't wrestling on your A game. In fact, you seem perennially...distracted by something. And what I've noticed, and this is just conjecture on my part, is that it has something to do with your little protege Ortiz. Whenever she's around, you get a little flighty, a little nervous when you're around her. Now I dunno what kind of thing you two have going on behind the scenes, but if you want to be the best out there, I suggest you work it out between yourselves before you get eaten alive from the inside by your own psyche.
Because if you let things get that bad...then hell, you don't deserve to be out here with the best two World Champions in wrestling today.
I'll see you on Sunday with Smitty Lucy. Prove me wrong, or live with your mistakes.
