Fade up on a wide shot of the arena bowl inside Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma, OK. The arena is empty and not fully lit days before Monday Night Metal. The set is mostly built and the ring stands tall and proud in the centre of the arena. As the camera drifts over the scene, we see that Lex Collins and Smith Jones are sitting in the nosebleeds looking down at the ring far below them. Smith sits in a seat while Lex sits casually on the steps, resting his chin on his hands. Jones is wearing dark jeans and a gray tee that reads ‘made from 100% championship material’ on the front of it in white lettering. Lex is wearing a pair of ripped Levi’s and a faded Harley Davidson tee, his hair significantly shorter than it was the last time he appeared on APW programming. Staring down at the ring below, Smith takes a deep breath and he speaks.
Smitty: Still, final three in the APW Rumble is a pretty fantastic showing out of the gate. I’ve never won a rumble either. People are starting to get an inkling of who Lex Collins is. They should worry. And the most important thing is that we are about to shape the game in ways that we could never have imagined on our own. We built so much of the past. We’ve made so much history. We are more than qualified to design the next decade.
Lex: Not sore about it… least not mentally, I mean. Pleasant an’ Venable are good. The bar here, it’s a hell of a lot higher’n I’m used to. Thought maybe I was gonna have issues there. Nice to know I can still hang. Experience, man. Guess you never lose that, even when you can’t see the goalpost anymore.
There’s a hint of a tired sigh as Collins rubs his hands over his face, letting his gaze settle on the ring below.
Lex: Last decade, I spent almost all of it on the road, in places like this. Bled buckets. Sweat enough to fill the Grand Canyon. Feel like it’s about time I have somethin’ tangible to show for all that hard work. Nice we’re on the same page in that regard.
Smitty: The bar here is insanely high. I’m still shocked out how hard it has been to get to the top of this roster. The water is deep. I am frustrated at how our top title has been looking the past little while. After all of the hard work I’ve put into making it shine, I lost it to someone who ended up leaving it looking lack-lustre. But… that gives me the chance to pick it up and carry it to heights that some people in this company lack the vision to imagine. All I have to do is beat one hell of a serious competitor in Frank Patrick Venable. I am quite nervous about that match. That’s why I am so glad to have you on my side at such a pivotal time in my career.
Smith leans forward in his seat, still staring down at the ring below.
Smitty: I saw my very first wrestling show up in the nosebleeds at Skydome in Toronto. There were sixty-seven thousand six hundred seventy-seven people there with me that night. The feeling in the air was that… indescribable connection we have to this crazy sport we love. I knew that night that I was never gonna shake this. Wrestling is in my blood. I will do anything to be the man who elevates this game as high as I can. And I know that you feel the very same way.
Jones looks at Lex with fire in his eyes.
Smitty: You and I have been up and down these roads. We’ve crossed paths out there once or twice, but we have gathered valuable experience largely from different squared circles. Every time you and I have gotten together to train, my game has improved. This is a mutually beneficial situation. And we are about to get even stronger.
Just then, a light-haired gentleman comes walking out from the concourse. He stands at the bottom of the staircase a few steps in front of Collins and Jones. He faces away from them, staring down towards the ring for now.
Damon: And stronger you shall get, gents. Alpha Pro…. well here we are. You know Smitty my dearest friend when you asked me to come here I was a bit skeptical, but you sold me. We have a new kingdom to conquer and rebuild in our image.
Damon turns his head ever so slightly towards Lex.
Damon: You are quite the impressive force yourself. I watched the Rumble. You should be proud of your efforts. With the three of us standing side-by-side I believe our potential for success will be limitless. Wouldn’t you agree, Smitty?
Smitty: One hundred. The Architects have been shaping the wrestling world for years as individuals. Now, we are going to create new history as a collective. The future is ours, gentlemen. Let’s be great.
Fade to black.
