♫Facing My Waterloo♫
♫Facing My Waterloo♫
The backstage area: it is maze of hallways. On any given day, these halls merely serve as a passageway from point A to point B.
Simple.
Straightforward.
To the point.
In the world of wrestling, however, there are a lot more variables: friendships are formed, rivalries arise, a career can even begin or end here.Ashley Derringer has stopped briefly in the hallway to talk with Dani. They exchange pleasantries for a moment, mostly on her new outfit, a sea-foam green dress with a pair of 3 inch heels complimented with a simple pair of diamond studs. He excuses himself and begins to make his way to the parking lot when he hears an voice from behind him.
'Hey!'
Ash turns back towards the voice and sees a short, older gentleman, dressed in glorious fashion. He wears a sparkling, Paisley one piece with an over-the-top collar and leans against the wall, lollipop in hand. He points the tip at Ash and continues.
"You suck."
Ash stares wordlessly at at Harvey as he walks by. In retaliation for the silent treatment, Harvey playfully presses his tongue against the side of his cheek. Ash shakes his head and turns away as which causes the smaller man to chuckle.
"Kid, wait! I'm serious!" he yells after Ash, who turns back to the older man, "Not about the blowjob, but you do suck." Ash grips the bat in his hand, the blood draining from his knuckles. He glances briefly at the ground and then he walks back towards the much smaller man.
'What's your issue?' Ash is a tall, imposing figure, even more so when holding a baseball bat, but this doesn't seem to bother Harvey who pops the lollipop back in his mouth as he elaborates.
'You punch people, hit them with the bat," he pulls the lollipop out of his mouth with a popping noise and spins it in a circle, whistling slightly, 'Whip dee do. You. Suck.'
Ash glares down at Harvey, much to his delight. Realizing that this is a futile battle, Ash let's out a sigh and turns back to the direction of his car. He glances back over at the older man who points at him then makes the motion of performing fellatio, in the classic 'You Suck' pantomime.

Once More into the Fray
Once More into the Fray
Ash shuts the door to his Jeep and places the key into the ignition. He stops before he turns the key to pull his cell phone from his pocket: 3 missed calls and a voicemail. He plays the voicemail and tosses the phone onto the seat beside him as it connects to his audio system.
"Mister Derringer. This is Jackson, with the ASPCA. We spoke last week about your...."career". I thought we were clear the first time we spoke, but here I see you've gone once again and attacked an endangered species WITH A BASEBALL BAT on live television. Was one charge of animal cruelty not enough? Expect to see more paperwork shortly."
The voicemail cuts off and Ash, sits quietly for a moment, hands on the wheel, before picking the phone back up. He opens a web browser and types for a moment before spending a moment to view the results. He inputs an address into his vehicles GPS and puts the Jeep into reverse.

The Third Time is a Charm
The Third Time is a Charm
Savannah, GA, two days later.
In the ring stands Bill, adjusting his Red Shirt and elbow pads. 'Welcome to the Jungle' by Guns n Roses plays and from the back steps Bobby 'Definitely Not a Gorilla' Beauregard followed by his manager, Pete. Pete motions to the ring and Bobby take his cue and begins marching towards the ring.
Suddenly, a man from the audience leaps over the railing, baseball bat in hand. Pete turns just in time to catch the end of the bat to his sternum, dropping him to his knees. Bobby has equally bad timing as he catches the bat in a back swing and then a solid overhead smash floors him.
Ash turns and begins making his way to the ring. Bill can be seen trying to argue with Ash as he pulls himself through the ropes, only to be met with a the familiar feeling of air rushing from his lungs as a boot meets his midsection and Ash wraps his head up, dropping once again onto his neck, rendering him unconscious.
Ash holds up a hand, ready to catch something and one of the ring attendants tosses him a microphone.
"You know...someone once told me, 'Ghosts never die.'..." he begins, pacing the ring ever so slightly. "That may be true, I myself could not verify."
An 'APW' chant has been building since Ash dropped Bill and has now overtaken him. He allows them a moment, nodding in satisfaction, and then regains control of the audience.
"You see, I've never tried to kill a ghost myself, but what I do know is that, while ghosts may not be able to die...." he pauses a moment, then continues, "...they sure can get their asses kicked."
The audience erupts, Ash paces the ring calmly, slowly shifting the mic from hand to hand. Another wave of 'APW' overcomes that cheering, bringing a smile to Ash face.
"That brings me to my next point. You see, I'm new here so everything that I have done up until now," Ash indicates with his bat in the direction of the fallen Pete and Bobby, "...has been monkey business."
The audience applauds and the camera briefly pans over to where Bobby lays prone on the ramp still. His manager Pete still struggling to catch his breath. In the ring, Ashley continues, "Alex "The Answer" Jones. You've done well for yourself here...you've made a name for yourself. You've been tearing through opponent after opponent and nobody has had an answer...to the Answer."
Ash leans his bat into the corner and places his chin to his hand, leaning his elbow into the corner as he exaggerates himself debating the matter. There is some rumbling in the audience as he debates this internally for a bit before turning back to the center of the ring, bat back in hand.
"I think the problem isn't in people having an answer though; People just haven't been asking the right question. Come Omega, Alex, I'm gonna ask the right question. Enjoy your last week wearing my title; take picture, do a blog, because, Spoiler alert! The question we need to be asking now is 'Whose ass did Ash hand to them at Omega?'"
The audience begins a chant of "Alex" and hearing his moniker, Ash holds the microphone out, nodding his head in agreement for a few moments before returning to the mic.
"I think we all already know The Answer."
Ash lowers the microphone as the audience erupts, a 'Bat! Man!' chant begins as he starts to exit the ring then stops abruptly, speaking into the microphone.
"Oh and I know you're probably wondering, Alex...."Who is he? Who is this guy stepping up and claiming a title that sits around my waist?" That answer is a bit more clear, and if you haven't been paying attention up until now, it's a good time to ask the audience, because..."
Ash hand lifts the bat above his head in the classic, 'Bat Signal' pose, the bat above his head and he and the audience say simultaneously, "I'm the Bat Man!" before dropping the microphone and pulling himself through the ropes and out of the ring. He proceeds towards the back as his theme song 'My Name is Mud' begins to play, leaving behind the bodies in his wake.

Never Forget
As Ash steps backstage, he retrieves his personal effects from one of the roadies. He tucks the baseball bat under one arm, glancing down at his cell phone: 2 new texts and an e-mail.
He can tell at a glance what the e-mail is pertaining to. The name Jackson is displayed and the words 'In regards to...' give him a good indication of its contents. He expected more after tonight, but after all, in for a dime, in for a dozen. The text messages, on the other hand, were another matter. He opened the message and was immediately met with the smiling visage of Harvey Berlin, even his selfies were decadent. Underneath the picture were two words, "You suck". With a quick, press of a button, the screen once again goes blank and he slides it into his back pocket.
"I need a drink..." he mutters to himself and makes his way back out to his vehicle.
